Oooh, you changed the wise women's inventory. So far so good.

Edit: I went to the ancient temple. And a "crumbling skeleton" attacked me. Is that Torian Kel ? Why did he attack me ?

No lighting or are you showing up in the middle of nowhere?

Here's what I get with a cheat teleport to the same location as the entrance should send you:

Into the throne room? I just tried it on 4 separate teleports and didn't have any problems. (Other than Virgil, then me getting killed.)

Edit: I finally woke up enough to realize what's going on - your game engine is still using the original script instead of my modified one.

Try this: If you have a save just prior to going to the Iron Clan; go to the Sierra/Arcanum/modules/Arcanum/maps folder (not in the patch) and you will find 85 to 100 oddly-named files with no file extention. Select and delete all of those - don't worry, they get replaced. Then start the game and see what happens.

Also - If you're not doing so already, there is 3 other ways into the mines from the entrance, try those and see if they screw up.

    Yeah, it's a double-post.

If one person is going to have this problem, then another one will, so here's the fix:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/43081777/AWIP_fix1.zip (Approx 1.9 mb)

Download this into your Sierra/Arcanum folder and unpack with Winzip.
Move the 30565Iron_Clan_Entrance_to_HQ.scr into the Sierra/Arcanum/Arcanum5.dat/scr folder.
Move the Iron_Clan HQ folder to the Sierra/Arcanum/modules/Arcanum.PATCH1/maps folder and allow to overwrite.

Now go to the Sierra/Arcanum/modules/Arcanum/maps folder (not the one in the patch) and you will find 85 to 100 oddly-named files with no file extention. Select and delete all of those.

The throne room door is now on a new teleport script.

Ehm, how would I go about changing the summoning after the death of random encounters? It's not any fun when I kill an orc leader and 10 level 30 yetis are summoned. Hell, I was only level 29 when the fight started.

I died three times during that fight, three times.

At first it was fun with the various kites being summoned, but yetis, I mean seriously, come on. From now on I'll probably pay them the 200 coins, dying three times just isn't worth it.

I finally found it. Arcanum5.dat/scr/288die.scr is the script for the summoning. Line 3 is the one that summons the yetis. What I don't know - yet - is how to modify the "If" condition in that line.

Until I do figure this out, renaming the 288die.scr to x288die.scr will disable the summoning and did not cause any corruption of my saves.

As soon as I get home from work, I'll tackle this problem.

Edit: Here is a modified scr that disables the summoning but leaves the large bands of orcs and their inventories intact. This is what I'll be using from here on out.
    http://rapidshare.com/files/44240300/03007OrcBanditDialog.scr

Download the file into your Arcanum5.dat/scr folder and allow to overwrite.
As a precaution against save game corruption, go to the Sierra/Arcanum/modules/Arcanum/maps folder and delete the contents.

I hope answering an approximately 1 month old thread is not considered gravedigging.

Hello rroyo, i have a few questions about this "mod" as there is not that much information.
First is what can we expect in this mod, i noticed there are new locations on the world map, lots of them, some don't have a name. Are all those locations playable, only those with a name?
    Did you add any follower?
Did you change the existing towns?
Did you change other aspects of the game, like spells, weapons ...

Second : i noticed a chest in the crash site with lots of gold and ammos, some magic items, i guess those are for playtesting and not meant to be used in normal games.

Third the datas are not included in a .dat file, and this makes the game much longer to load. Should i put them all in a .dat file so it loads faster or is it a bad idea for some strange reason.

4th are you still working on this mod, do you plan to release a more polished version or do you simply provided it "as is" because you no longer work on it ( i realise Arcanum is an old game :-( )

Oh, and did you edit Raven and Zan Alurin so they no longer have access to those :realmad: :rifle: bugged elemental form spells.

Mhh btw i have a small bug. Whenever i quit a game, whether because i want to quit or because i get killed i get a CTD, not really annoying if i want to quit, a little more if i get killed because of the time it takes to load. I have the french version and level 126 patch if that matters, no other hack.

I tried car-arcanum recently, there are some good ideas in it but hell, WTF with all those traps, poisonous monsters and silly-huge charms ... I would really like to see a good mod that doesn't break the spirit of the game. I hope you will finalize yours

    Oh yeah, I almost forgot:

rroyo, it still doesn't work, but I think the problem is on my side. I'll reinstall Arcanum and see if it solves the problems.

Frigo: When you get back to the Iron Clan, let me know if you're still having problems. The new teleport script should have worked.
BTW: Here's another 15 seconds of fame for you. You're a land-owner in Brandybuck. Any objection to the name of Frigo Furbottom? (Inspired by your pictures....)

Bob: Let's take this from the top. First off, you're not grave-digging.

As for what to expect - this is being built as a expansion pack for the stock game. It's not going to be a revision like Car-Arcanum. For the most part, I'm simply adding more things to do and correcting any and all bugs I can in the process.

The locations without a name are places I've yet to build anything at. You can go there if you want, but all you'll find is stock scenery rather than a new town, trading post, or dungeon to enter. Ignore them for now.

At the moment, there's only two new followers - Faithe Tobor, a half-elf gunfighter mercenary in Shrouded Hills, and Hamfist, a half-ogre melee mercenary in Leahbo. I lost the rest due to a major glitch a few months back and haven't replaced them yet.

Changing the towns: At this time Shrouded Hills and Roseborough are the only two that show any changes and those are fairly minimal. A porch on the front of the Shrouded Hills temple, a graveyard for the town, a couple new buildings, ships for the Roseborough docks, that sort of thing. There's also a free place for storage and such in Tarant, but that used an existing building so I really don't count that.

Changing the spells or weapons: Other than adding Krupps AIO fix to solve a few bugs, no. I'm still a long way from being skilled enough to make any worthwhile changes along those lines. I have added a couple of uber-weapons to the game; a magic sword and pistol; but that may be as far as I go.

The crash-site chest and a few things inside the Shrouded Hills temple are my test cheats. Those will not be available in the next release. This one was unplanned and spur-of-the-moment, which is why they're still around.

Packing the DATs: You can if you want to. It will make the game load and shut down at normal speed but is quite a hinderance if a bug-fix needs to be added. I've decided to keep releasing the beta versions unpacked for that reason.

I'm still working on this and since June have added two new mid-game adventures and I'm currently working on the halfling village of Brandybuck where you can get one side-quest, a hobbit-hole, and a new free follower.
At wizards.com I was able to download over a hundred D&D modules that could be adapted in whole or part for use in Arcanum, so I've still plenty of source material I could use. I found a few of these were better versions of what I had planned, so you know which ones I'll be using. :D

Raven and Zan's elementals: Not yet. Maybe someday, but I am trying to minimize making this a revision. So, maybe.

CTD: I'm unfamiliar with the term but, from your post it sounds like the game suddenly quits. I suspect this is a glitch in your game. I have encountered this once, but only once, when I did a test on a computer that runs at 1.2 GHz. The build computer I'm using runs at 450 MHz which is closer to what Arcanum was originally designed for.
If this continues to be a problem, I'd suggest uninstall, and start fresh.

Finally - Yeah, I am going to keep going with this as it continues to be fun for me. I'm trying my best to maintain the spirit of the game. In fact, the working title of this mod is Forgotten Places. As in here's everything that Troika didn't think was needed for the Living One saga.
When all is said and done, I'll pack everything up properly and make one final Polished release. From there - who knows?

BTW: I'm trying for an October release of version 2.0.
I figure that a release every four months or four adventures should be good for debugging purposes and by the time most folks finish the last one, here comes something new.

    Yes and no.
All the new locations are well documented, but the little changes - like the Shrouded Hills graveyard - aren't.
    Why?

    Thanks! Glad you like it.
The new release will be available here at HoL.
As for the "castle", it is the Big Woods Lodge, and it should have been marked on your map when you talked to the halfling.
