I need help playing Arcanum on my LAN. You see, I've used the search engines to find an answer over a period of about 4 hours. I just need someone to tell me exactly how to get the damn main module for Arcanum to be multiplayer. I really want to play this with my brother over the LAN.

    Thanks, Haadurin
P.S. If anyone out there has successfully done this, please share with me.

What Xz meant by this is that you'd have to design your own version of this game form the ground up using the tools in the game to *make* it multiplayer yourself. Basically, this amounts to like a year of work, even for someone who knows exactly what they are doing. And even when you got done with it, it wouldn't be fun for you to play really because you'd know the game already at this point.

And you'd never be able to finish it because since there is no world map travel in multiplayer (due to the advance time function being disabled) you'd have to walk everywhere in real time.

No actually, I'm pretty sure the maps could be copied instead of remade. But as I said it'd still take a lot of time. And as Vorak said, multiplayer modules doesn't allow for world maps, neither do they allow for having different locations on different maps, so everything would have to be on map.

My advice is still to just let it go.

I'm double posting now, but I'm lazy and I can't be bothered to edit my last post.

Allow me to quote the new guy:
Now the starting naked on water part can be circumvented, that I know, but I don't know how. I am however sure that someone here does know how.

    What the fuck?

    Editing a post = clicking a button.
Posting a new post = clicking a button.

I fail to see how it is more work to edit an old post.

    ...

mabey if you edit the starting point you can get past that but if you go somwhere else you wont be able to get virgil so that messes up the whole story line. and since you cant use the world map youll have to put your starting point in your fav place. not unless your willing to walk from shrouded hills to tarant.

There's a quick reply, but no quick edit.

Alright, I take it back. I never use the quick reply so I didn't think about it.

Hypothetically, couldn't you just allow multiplayer for Arcanum, script teleportation signs to appear after dialogue (or trains), and then send this massive file to your friend's/brother's computer.

I somehow remember doing this, I might be wrong though.

Yes, you could script in teleportation but scripting each location into conversations as well as coming up with new conversations to provide a way to get to random leveling up/looting locations and implementing them would take some time.

Plus the lack of an advance time feature would mean that all the merchants would run out of stock and cash to buy your stuff very early on.

Oh never mind, I didn't notice you were talking about advancing time manually.

One redeeming feature is not enough.

The ruling stands, multiplayer is useless.
