magick college

ive just got arcanum, i want to be a mage but dont know which college to use. which is the best? i was thinking of summoning is this anygood?

Summoning is very good for making combats much easier.
The harm spell of the black necro school seems to be very powerful.
The force shield (I think it's called that way; first spell of force school) is very useful.
The Clairvoyance (I hope I didn't build too many mistakes in that word) school is very good. Think of teleporting (5th spell).
For easy lockpicking choose the school the unlocking cantrip spell (2nd spell) belongs to - I forgot the name (perhaps this is clairvoyance).
The charm spells seems to be very useful when you want to raise the reaction of others - but there are enough other useful options.

So, that's it from here - there might be thousand other hints...but I think it's a beginning. X

the college X refers to is conveyance , and yes it is a good college
branch out a bit , by the end of the game 1st time through i had harm in black necro agility of fire in fire and complete mastery of temporal force and conveyance =D

 

Oh yeah, right! I forgot that time manipulating school - these spells are great! X

How do I get to 'clairvoyance'? Tststs...

 

I highly recommend conveyance (all 5 with teleport), 5 necromantic black ( in order to be master of necro black , the 1-st harm is the best due to low fatigue cost),3 from fire magic( the 3-rd - flash -is very useful when you have a lot of enemies)

 

teleporting becomes really helpful and summuning is really good and those r the only 2 i have

Others pretty much mentioned all the spells worth mentioning so i'll not bother. I like the black necromantic, but that's just me.

Nope, I think therefor you have to play AD&D or comparable pen&paper-rpgs, and you should have a game master with some crazy tendencies. X

Never played any pen & paper AD&D. Probably never will considering nobody here will ever play, or even buy any pen & paper AD&D.
