Reading in the Book of DE, I'd say our dancing was in the final months of Upper Secondary, then. And the reason was so everyone would be able to do some Wienerwaltzing at the student parties that were about to start.

 

Australia-
Kindergarten to grade 6- (7 years)
High School- year 7 to 12 ( 5 years)

Uni- Whatever you want to study.

 

Famous and Infamous at the same time Former Soviet Union education:
1. A school you must complete anyway: 9 years
2. Education that you will get if you try a little-little bit: 2-3 years+, depending upon time you entered (after 2001-2002 you would study for 3 years)

Now you get so-called "full average education", but about 60% of Russians enter universities of all kinds, where there's Bauchelority (4 years, and all other life you suck because no one wants to give a job to asshole with incomplete Highest Education), a classical university education (5 years) and a 6-years education for specialists in nuclear industry, electrotechnics and energetics.
