I recently heard that XP isn't shared between party members - they just level up whenever you level up, and when they kill something no one gets XP. Is that true? If it is my gambler/persuayer(sp?) wouldn't level at all, right? [ This Message was edited by: Vicsun on 2001-10-03 09:25 ]

Thanx al, you're helpful but... that wasn't what I was asking for. I was asking if you share XP or just the PC gets XP and everyone lvl up whenever the PC does. And if the second, how do non-fighting (social) PC's survive?
1) Yes, you share your XPs with them but I don't know if it is divided or if you all get the same XP points. 2) Survive from where? or what?
If the only XP coming in the party is from stuff you kill, you wouldn't get any XP if you only rely on your party... And a persuayer wouldn't kill anything (just lead the party and do the talking) and therefore not get xp... Hope that was clear
I thought it was that the followers don't gain any experience themselves, they just level up when you do. And when you kill something, you get extra experience, but that's in addition to the experience you get whenever your party kills anything. So if you never personally fight anything and just let your party members handle it, you'll still get the xp for the enemy deaths, just not the bonus for being the killer.
complicated The answer is rather complicated, but, bottom line; your followers level up when you do(they dont gain exp points) they just "throw them away". You do get exp points when your followers kill something, but not as much as you would have if you had killed it yourself. Everytime you damage a creature you gain experience. Each creature has 2 "pools" of experience, 1 for damage and 1 when its killed. You always get the "pool" of experience for the kill, but the only part of the damage "pool" you get is the percentage of damage you do yourself to any given creature. The exact details are in the uberfaq somewhere, if your interested. If you kill everything yourself you will level up faster, then if you let your followers do it. Although, generally speaking, your more likely to survive with followers, then without. Also, "Diplomatic" types tend to have more quests open to them and can gain experience that way. It's possible to be level 5 before you get to SH, if you kill everything yourself(thats without wandering for random encounters).
