Hello, everybody. I used to own a copy of Arcanum, however I believe that I have lost it. I was considering buying the game, when I thought to myself, perhaps I ought to try the demo first. Which, by the way I promptly did, enjoying the world of Arcanum and deciding on the character I would use for the main quest. At last I created an Elven gunslinger. He does not regenerate fatigue (whilst my previous avatars did), and collapses after a while. Even when sleeping in a bed this fatigue does not return. So. Is this peculiar to elves? to elves with an emphasis on technology? a bug in the demo? a bug in the game? Thank you for reading the post and I will appreciate any reply.
I've never heard of such a bug happening so I think it's something unique to the demo. Once you buy the actual game itself there is a patch for it that fixes all of the serious glitches and bugs. Beyond that, you can even find several fan made patches that fix just about everything else.
Plus you are using tech with a magic character, in the full version it can be overcome, but it wouldn't surprise me if the demo can't deal with it.
Well, having never actually played the demo, I'm going off the full version of the game. The only two hexed items in Shrouded Hills that I can think of are the small leather armour in the locked chest in Jongle Dunne's house and the Fool's Dagger in the Bessie Toone mine. Neither should cause this problem as an elf can't wear small armour and a gunslinger shouldn't be armed with a dagger.
I agree with Bunny, it sounds like a cursed item, but as far as I can remember there weren't any that would cause these kinda problems. It sounds like you have the troll boots from Caladon, but they weren't available in the demo. Where did you get the demo from?
I do not think that it is a cursed item, because it is like this from the very beginning. However, I only just realised, that my character's consitution is 1 (I have the miracle operation backround). Does this shed any light on the issue?
Miracle operation: IN+3 CH+3 PE+5 ST-3 DX-3 CN-5 Elf: DX+1 WP+1 BE+1 MA+15% CN-2 ST-1 tech skills-2/4 That means CN-7 from the basic 8. Don't wonder.
I think you have discovered the answer all on your own. Lesson learnt. Cn is quite important, especially if you want to stay conscious.
