SP0ILS MIGHT BE INCLUDED!!! Ok, I've done some bashing, so I thought I'd add something semi-positive, constructive here. Reply with your favorites/least favorites/disapointments. My only rule (well, request really) is that what you have to say relates only to the game and game dynamics and NOT bugs of any kind. Well, here's mine, of course I have more, but this is just off the top of my head. Certainly incomplete, but again, just off the top of my head. Keep in mind I have not yet been to the Void (and won't until the slow down is fixed [let's not discuss that here]). FAVORITES: Favorite Critter: Vorpal Bunny (I giggle just thinking about them). FAV-DIALOG: Forgive me if I can't remember names, but at the Wheel Clan: the King and his son that rules in his stead. Truly inspired writing, whoever wrote that should consider writing fiction if they already aren't. Hmm, Stone and Shape, damn good stuff. LEAST FAVORITES: L.F. AFFECT: Walking too close to certain smithy forges can cause damage to your armor (this should only happen ONCE). Still sucks though. L.F. TECH CONSEQUENCE: Combination of two items of a certain weight ends up weighing more than both items seperately added (xtra inventory space is acceptable, though). DISAPOINTMENTS: DISAPOINTING BATTLES: The Bogorath: I was hopeing for a battle that would test my skills (and was led to belive so by a certain someone). Not so here. DISAPOINTING DISCOVERIES: I was hoping for more than just two schems. in Vendigroth, really my whole reason for playing a tech character. DISAPOINTING RANDOMS: In general, these are not (later on) equal to your skill level, and simply become boring. But in the case of The Molochean Hand: Molochean "Hand" me arse, I've seen Kite Beserkers take harder hits than these pussies. Molochean "Vagina" is more like it. I hope this inspires some fun discussion.
Disappointing Schematics: Bronwyck's Gun: The Fine Revolver is Better Acid Gun: The Fine Revolver is Better Grenade Launcher: The Fine Revolver is Better Charged Accelerator Gun: Hard to Find, The Fine Revolver is Better High Velocity Pistol: Requires Accelerator Gun, The Fine Revolver is Better Shreck's Multi-Barreled Pistol: Can't Build It, if you hack the game to get one that works, you find that the Fine Revolver is Better Repeater Rifle: Only Slightly Better Than the Fine Revolver, With Some Shortcomings Machined Plate: No Strength Bonus, As Per Description Medical Arachnid: Built Version Doesn't Function (the only working one is the one you get from Maxim) Lemon and Potato Charges: Lemons and Potatoes are rarer than the components of regular charges; result is worth less than regular charges. Disappointing Purchased Firearms: Shotgun: The Fine Revolver is Better Rifle: The Fine Revolver is Better Hunting Rifle: The Fine Revolver is Better Clarington Rifle: The Fine Revolver is Better Marksman Rifle: The Fine Revolver is Better You're totally right about the Bogorath. Level 20? Can you say dead in one turn? That's weaker than the stuff you have to fight through to get to Nasrudin. And Nasrudin couldn't beat it. Right.
FAVORITES : * Spell effects. Some very creative thought there. * Fallout/Fallout 2-esq feel of the game. * Summoned creatures (Vorpal Bunny, Demon, Familiar, etc. are great ! LEAST FAVORITE : * Some of the followers are not worth having around, 'pack mule' or not. I probably spend more time and resources healing or using important items on them than needed. (Improve the AI...Please ?) * Critical failures with Filament Sword. I am not saying that crit. failures should not be in the game, but I sure do get irritated at myself if I havent saved for an hour or so, and I chop myself in half... LOL. DISSAPOINTMENTS : * Technology. For as much stuff as you find, it is pathetically inferior to Magick, and not enough Schematics. * Cannot teach followers Found/Bought Schematics. I love this game ! ¥ Darkrune ¥
I can't believe I forgot this one... FAVORITE SOUND: The sound zombies make when they "die". For some reason it makes me think of an eldery man throwing up his Vodka breakfast. I've never claimed to be normal.
lol, love the guy in the bar who is too freindly if i ask enough question my dwarf says "u'r too nice, i think i need to kill you" that is too funny. Brothel " need i say more disappointed that couldn't control my followers and that you can't get them masteries or apprentices if they don't come with it. looking glass rifle is the bomb, tired of ressurecting followers after they crictal miss with the pyrotechnic ax. (soon one is goin to chop the other in half by accident they do it so often) thats it for now, Oh dislike some towns can't sell sanything in them
Hey Up Urs (it still makes me laugh, I congratulate you for choosing such a humorous name): I know I should not post this here, because this is the "GENERAL DISCUSSION" board and not the "STATEGIES,HINTS,TIPS" board (and also not keeping to the spirit of this thread). Which, by the way, to those of you asking for tips/game help/spoilers here, as I have stated: THIS IS THE GENERAL DISCUSSION BOARD, NOT THE HINTS BOARD DAMN-IT, POST IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!!! Ok, that's the last (sure to eat these words) time I'll mention that, I prefer to help gamers, not yell at them. But seriously, get your dumb asses to the right board (now eating words). Anyway, on selling things: The importer in Shrouded Hills will buy anything from you at a good price, provide you complete the quests that improve the condition of that town (hey, even bad guys need a "home town"). Also the smithy there, but not as much offered with some items. The junk dealer on the docks of Tarant will buy almost anything at a reasonable price. With that said, (going in for a second helping on those words) THIS IS NOT THE HINT BOARD, STOP ASKING FOR HINTS. By the way Up Urs, I know you were not asking for hints here, so those comments were not directed at you. Sorry if you thought I was attacking you.
Yes, very sexy. Could sing me to sleep. Do you recognize that voice (i.e. a particular actress or someone)? Sounds familar to me but I can't place it. AND IN KEEPING WITH THE SPIRIT OF THIS THREAD: Favorite NPC: Jayna Stiles, first of all, that just sounds like a porno name to me, second, she growls going into combat (mmm, I can almost smell it). Least Fav about Jayna: She seems to be too "high and mighty" when it comes to what alters her reaction to you. Disapointment: I let her die in combat so that when I "re-animated" her, her reaction would change. It went from dislike to courteous. I'm not at all sorry to say this, but I don't care how evil you are, if you re-animate/raise me from death, I WILL LOVE YOU!! Almost unconditionally, come on, that's a REALLY big favour. But that's just me.
Tasia Valenza stars in... Star Trek: The next Generation (Episode 19) - 1988 The Hillside Stranglers - 1989
Wow, Tasia Valenza has done SO many video game voice overs. I just checked her entry (oooer) in IMDB at: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Valenza,+Tasia Depending on which games you've played, you might recognise her from one of them. Getting back to the thread ... FAVOURITES ---------- Follower: Worthless Mutt (brings a tear to my eye, cos he makes me think of Dogmeat) Fight: Liam Cameron's Portal (it was tough enough, but not too tough) Schematic: Any of the grenades Sequence: The speech in Ashbury (I love the way the crowd applauds whatever dodgy advice you give) LEAST FAVOURITES ---------------- Follower: Virgil (he's a pain and crap) Schematic: Guns (as has been pointed out, they're mostly pointless) Sequence: Schuyler's (after all the build up of getting to them, killing them is curiously unsatisfying) Design Flaw: Either the pointlessly laborious transport system (why the blinking buggery won't the boat take me from Tarant to Blackroot?) or Inventory (having to talk to people/click their portrait to access the party's equipment is also pointless laborious)
Fave NPCs - Raven (well she does love me and has 173 reaction to me lol) and Virgil just because i liked virgils storyline and his redemption least fave npc - Alot but specifically weldo because the little bastard doesnt talk!! he gave me the loc for tulla joined my party and spent the rest of the game wasting viril and ravens fatigue healing him when he critical failed with his axe fave shopkeeper - any mage who worshipped me as being mighty hehe least fave shopkeeper - one in qintarra who mysteriously ran out of money - all your items are woth huge amounts of money but i can only offer you 0 , plus any tech who threw me out of his shop most dissapointing quest - finding out i couldnt do the gods quest because after making offerings to the first circle starting with geishenna halcyon wouldnt accept my olive branch most rewarding quest - finishing the caladon murders myself without a guide after hearing how supposedly hard (?) it was but then id already talked to the npc you need to travel and see to progress in the quest before i went to caladon so i had an idea (was trying to avoid spoilers there) dissapointing - doing so many quests that i progressing in level so fast things that shouldve required sound tactics were a cakewalk , ie the temporal mastery test shouldve been stasis the apes in the first room and kill them and to tempus fugit the 2nd room and run through , i killed em all in both hardest fight - forsaken paladin in the stringy pete quests , with tempus fugit and spatial distortion this took a while (i did this with the last boss and killed him without taking a single hit , easy cos of a single target) easiest fight - wreaking holy vengeance on the pigs of shrouded hills! die die die! most matrix-esque moment - watching those faster than a steam train shadow hunters in the dredge run screaming in realtime combat from me while i uttered "dodge this" and sent a sparkling ball of atomic dissasociation into his back why? - why not most larcenous act - doing the azrams star quest to get throwing mastery and then using a fate point to pickpocket it back off her because its such an amazing weapon most trial and error quest - azrams star the reason i like kites - arrows for ravens machine bow the reason i hate kites - any random encounters involving raven and kites would mean raven spending 40 arrows in a second to kill the one kite carrying 10 arrows :/ most satisfying fight - stillwater giant  oooook ive run out of steam now , my rant has come to an end <and someone posted about liams portal - i just got it to the edge of my vision after offing the lesser void lizards and aryas and sealed it with disperse magic scrolls , left the slaver arya and the others there scratching their heads hehehe> [ This Message was edited by: Darksider on 2001-10-03 13:24 ]
