The Pit

How does one gain entry into the Pit in Dernholm? I have tried pissing the guard off and i keep getting the same comments from him.

You can't get into the pit until much later in the game, and you must be a certain type of character and make certain decisions.

I´m afraid that´s not so.
If you stand near the north western most house in Dernholm, and starts walking NW then after a while(like 3-4 minutes) the vegetation starts changing. Keep walking, you´ll encounter a couple of monsters and eventually you´ll get to a secret back entrance(stairs) to the pit. It´s guarded by a Lvl 30 monster, so you can get in as soon as you can beat this monster.

 

I'll try your suggestion. I hope it'll work. :wink:

Tried searching it and can't seem to find it. What is this house? Where is it near? Is it inside the house?

 

If I remember correctly, then in Dernholm there´s a house NE of the merchant shop(where you go to get the package to the wizard in shrouded hills). That´s the house I´m talking about, stand outside at the NW corner and walk NW. I have the coordinates somewhere (for the pitstairs on the woldmap), I´ll try and see if I can find them.

Any luck yet? I'm having none I want to get there too...you'd think that four times through the game I would have played as an evil character at least once so I could get in there.

Oh, and do you mean NW in reference to the WorldMap (directly left in-game) or NW in-game, to the top left corner?

Coordinates...

The closest I can come to coordinates for the stairs are 1236, 1649. The only problem is that you can't click close enough to that to get to it quickly via the worldmap without it jumping to the town dot, so it's just going to require a lot of walking up and down the NW side of the local map to find it. And by NW, we mean towards the top left of the screen, although it took me quite a bit of zigzagging up and down the map to find it.

 

I already found it. Exact coordinates are: 1236, 1647. Just like Bubba's, you can't go there through the world map.

Also, from Dolan's shop, go outside. Stand in the middle behind the house. Then press the up and left arrow. Keep your mouse steady.

As friend_al_23 stated you cant really get there from the worldmap(though having the coordnates might help).

According to rumor you should be able to be thrown in - if you are evil enough that is. Don´t know if it´s true or not, since I haven´t got very far with my evil character. I keep restarting all the time(I´m a famous restarter :smile and on top of that I´ve had a serious urge to replay the entire Close Combat series lately - so alas Arcanum has been collecting dust for a day or 3.

Thanks. Read the dialogue and the guard has the option of saying things that gets me thrown in.
