Hey, Arcanum is an rpg right? So everytime you start a new character you become this new person. This new person doesn't know where stillwater is, so him exploring and finding stillwater will be like you discovered it for the first time. Of course if you play the game like a game and not like a world, I can see why people would object to this.

Are you positive? Do you have that level of PE, as Vorak said? I can't think of an explanation of that.
Although maybe you'd used the glasses before to see the entrance and now that you know where it is you don't need them anymore.
Perhaps you were wearing the glasses (I sometimes forget to take them off.)
    Or the game is bugged.

    Speaking of cheating -

I recently un-DATed the Arcanum files for a look around and discovered that there seems to be a secondary quest involving Bessie Toone and one of those islands that you can never seem to get to.

Does anyone know how to start this quest?

I found out why it happened. Thorvald Two-Stones was in my party, and he was wearing the glasses. When he followed me up to that rock, the entrance appeared. That's most likely how it happened. However, if I start a new game, I'll check the entrance again and see if I find it without the glasses. By the way, my character's perception was 20.

I'm not sure (it was always my brother who played evil chars), but if you're evil, don't you get a quest
    to kill everyone in stillwater?
I don't remember but i thought so. No idea on the Wheel clan though, and that's my fav part (besides Vendigroth, everyone's favorite)

Yeah, you do get that quest. It's fun, but towns get boring when you do that.
