    Hello again.

I have the components to create the Iron Key to open the safe in the Taran Zological Society, for the Iron Clan quest. The walkthroughs I've read say I don't need any schematic to create this key. However, unfortunately, I have no idea how to create the key now that I have those components. Any help?

    Thanks.

You do need a schematic, and you get it from the dwarf that gives you the quest in the Wheel Clan.

[Edit=Damned. What was the probability that something like that happened?]

The walkthrough I checked said you don't need it. But you're right, I forgot I'd been given that schematic earlier. That was actually my first use of the system for making things. I've just read some more about making various things in this game, and it seriously rocks. I might make Bronwyck's Gun soon.

I always use a FP to open that chest. Works every time.

But why to open the chest, anyway? Visiting the Place of Lost Voices isn't needed to complete Iron Clan-quest.

OOOH is THAT what the iron key is for? hahaha...

i've invariably either skirted the issue altogether,. or had the chest open long before i got onto any of that dwarven crap ;)

bunny... the schematic is given to you by some wheel clan dwarf? O.O
    that's never happened to me...

How do you make the key, then?

i don't. as i said, i pick the lock with a fate point if using a tech character, or i expend a fate point to 'set spell at maximum' with unlocking cantip.

i have NEVER made the iron key. after having read this, though, within the hour i had gotten to that point in the game from a new character so i could try this out.
this is the same game that i made the 'wierdest arcanum bug yet' thread on.

What chest are you talking about? There are no chests for the Iron Clan quest :-/

Tarant Zoological Society has an old Iron Clan safe in the room with the dragon skeleton.

If you don't force the Iron Clan's location you need to make an iron key to open the chest. You get another location from the chest. Then you get a puzzle. You solve it correctly or three mech arachnids attack. Then you get the location for the Iron Clan.

Ah, you're right. But I was never able to open it with a normal key, not even with a fate point.

I used the walkthrough and opened the chest. But I never got around the logic for it. What's the connection between the Iron Clan and the Bellerogrim?

My only suggestion was that the "Great Power" reffered to in the schematic for the iron key is the abillity if to turn into a Bellerogrim.

I think it was really just an excuse to put it in the museum, they couldn't really have a sign saying

"Here's some really old chest we found somewhere"

Oh yeah, that must be it! But again I can't see why, say I'm on the lookout for the Iron Clan why would I want to open that chest? What's the logic to look there?

That's easy; the game was made that way. It's not like it's a terribly hard puzzle. Also, if you remember the location of the iron clan, all you need to get is the glass key from Hadrian in Caladon. Besides, the treasure you find in the iron clan's location is THE BEST equipment you can get for a small character. The Iron clan hammer and Iron Clan armor are just amazing. Unfortuntely, they don't sell for much if you don't have a small person. However, you can use the hammer no matter what your size is.
