These people look for any excuse for voilence and jump on it, they're about as religious as your average football hooligan.

One danish newspaper publishes some cartoons.

4 months later they use it as an excuse to burn down a danish and a swedish embassy(wtf?)

Me too. There's a reason why Israeli embassies have never been ransaked or destroyed.

(The Kurds in Germany found out that reason when they were rioting over the capture of the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan. They took over the Greek embassies in London and the Netherlands and took hostages, but when they tried the same with the Israeli consulate in Berlin, the guards opened fire.)

I realize that, I'm merely illystrating a point that they're all overreacting.

Personally, I think they are using the cartoons as an excuse to go haywire, but it's not the real reason. Well, it was what made the bubble burst. They have "hated" " the west" for a long time and for a lot of reasons, now they got an excuse to finally do something about it.

Do you assume that the U.S. will still be warring against Iraq by the end of spring?

We'll be in Iraq for longer than that, Bunny.

What I find particularly sad is that among even the vast minority of Muslims who are "fanatics" or "terrorists," it is an even more limited number of people who are actually the problem. Some nutcase gets up and starts spouting shit, and some kids get confused and listen.

If 1% of Muslims are involved with terror, and I doubt it's even that high, they you have to figure at least 70% of those are either brainwashed or too afraid to back out now that they know what they've gotten into. So at most it's .3%...

Even if we come up with a bigger fish to fry (like North Korea or Iran), we'll still keep a presence in Iraq until their security forces are fully trained and operational. If we go to war with Iran, I figure we'll probably use Iraq as a major base of operations. This is just speculation, I'm not privvy to any secret info or anything, but it's educated speculation. So I feel pretty confident saying that I'll be in the Middle East this summer.

You mean until a new generation of American forces are fully trained and operational, don't you?

There was a report just a few weeks ago about those Iraq forces. Only one battalion was capable of proper operation.

I read somewhere that some Danish muslums went on a tour to the middle east with the cartoons, together with some they had painted on their own (the ones they themselves made were of course much worse than the original Danish ones).

Also on the news yesterday they said that the riots in some muslum country might have started when some one started SMSing rumors about Danes burning the Quran in Copenhagen. So there probably is some evil muslum mastermind behind all this.

(The Swedish embassy were at least mostly burned because it was in the same building as the Danish one.) But I read somewhere (hope it wasn't in this thread because that would be really embarrassing) else that attacking an embassy is an declaration of war from the country who doens't stop the attack on the embassy, so maybe we have a third world-war going on right now without knowing about it.

Neither would I, me and some friends were discussing this earlier to day as the matter of fact. I just hope the enemy has no nukes.

Yup. The Danish Muslim leaders decided to "internationalize" the issue this way. One of the fake cartoons showed Mohammed with a pig face, I believe, and the other showed him being sodomized by a dog while praying.

seeing as two entire marine battalions deployed in the last week to Iraq, and two more are scheduled for next week, all on 7 month tours, we will definitely still be in Iraq come spring...

Four battalions doesn't seem such a significant number to me, but I have to remember, the Marines are the Few and the Proud. The Army is more like 'the Many and the Sane.' When I deploy, it will be with the whole aviation brigade (3 battalions) plus however many infantry, arty, and MP units they feel like sending from our division. We're slated for 18 months.

Than Embassy isnot than fortress anymore, the America who are trying to make they embassy into fortress are finding out the embassy is not doing it job of creating good will in the target nation.

The Irian police help the student of Iran take over the america embassy by
blocking our guard from doing they job.

It I become moslim president what would stop me from occup. the Danish embassy or Israel embassy afew m1 tanks can easy wipe out any security guard with help from gunship coters.

Although protected by soldiers, the idea of embassies is diplomacy.
