Never mind. I kept reloading at the Wheel Clan inventor shop until some appeared there. I now have four of them. However, as my character is a half-ogre, with a maximum intelligence of 14, it can't actually make the machined plate armour. Is it possible to get followers to learn the schematic?
A Potion of Intellect can add +10 to your Intelligence for a very short time. Can be bought from any Wise Woman or in the magic potion shops. Why bother with the Machined Plate though? It's far too heavy.
I figured I'd see what the armour class and damage reduction is like. At the moment I have Elite Plate which rocks.
Ok, I've seen the stats for each armour on a webpage, and the machined plate only weight 100 more than elite plate. An extra bit or armour might be cool. Except I can't construct it. I may have to go with elite plate, and maybe try machined on another game.
You want arcane armor? Just download the inventory hack, talk to the 'wise women' that hang around places like Tarant (far south east of the city) and in Shrouded hills (along the road from the town to the bridge, you can't miss it) And after you've spoken with them, just rest a day and presto! They'll have everything they can possibly sell standing by for your shopping pleasure. Including arcane armor!
The purpose to this forum is to figure out how to do things without hacking the game in such a manner! Thus why the title is Hints and Tips not Hacks and Glitches If you want to talk about things like that, go comment in that forum
I was about to say that myself, but you just did. Anyway, if you don't find what you want on the woman, just rest off the day and come back the next. If she still doesn't have it come back the next day, and so on and so forth. Eventually she'll have it and you can get it. Personally, I'd rather use the hack, it saves a lot of time.
The inventory hack, for the most part, doesn't change anything that anyone has. Each item in a shopkeeper's inventory has a percentile chance of appearing. Some, like bread at a general store, are close to 100%. Others, like the schematics, are close to 0%. The hack makes them all 100%. The reason this doesn't work the first time you talk to them is that each shopkeep also has a different list for the first time you speak with them. The Tarant blacksmith makes this most evident, as he has a compound bow when you first meet him and never carries one afterwards. The exception is the general store, some items were added, mostly like heartstones and lava rocks.
