yaaaay, people are taking an interest in te RP forums again

that was half the reason why i just wanted to start my own straight off...
maybe perhaps, if people begin posting regularly again, it would be neat to hold a minor character in 'these hands...'

As usual, when our encounter takes place, one of the characters can ask a series of questions and the other may pretend that some pauses were left between those questions.

 

Could i get a description of your character's physical appereance Bunny, or should I just make something up? (Don't think you'd want that )

Hey guys, I am considering joining into the role play, but I've never RPed before. Could you please briefly explain to me the basics?

 

Well, first you buy the outfit. Then she puts it on and models for you. Then you get into character. I like the librarians best, so it goes liek this:

"Hey I'ld like to check out this book on mathematics."
"Ok, I'll just turn around and bend over to find my book stamper thing."
*she does so and then stands back up*
"Is something wrong?"
"Oh no, I was just checking out... something else."
*cue music*
"Oh really... so you like math..." *said while slowly sliding the book back*
"Not really, just need to study."
"Oh, I like math, maybe I can tutor you..."
"That'ld be nice. You know what I really what to find out though?"
"What?"
"What you'ld look like naked."
*porno ensues*

You could also do it with a maid or a police officer, I have a thing for hot, smart chicks with glasses though.

On the boards it is quite similar, except since no one knows what your character looks like you have to describe yourself first. These boards have a weird little thing about inserting all this exposition in between the good bits. This particular exposition seems to do with vampires. They act out their battles with the vampire, it's like saying what you would be doing at the time if you were your character. Just like my girlfriend isn't a Cowboys cheerleader, it's just pretend.

It's not what I meant. I have no problem making up a character profile, I can write dialogues and descriptions quite fine. My question is about all those little rules and canons one should adhere to while writing. I mean, do I only write my own character at all times, or can I write a couple of dialogue lines for the other guy if there is a dialogue? (I imagine it would slow down the whole thing intolerably if everybody spoke one line per post). Is there a "Game master" who dictates the storyline's general direction, or does it grow naturally and chaotically? What happens if I am busy for a week and can't post, would it paralyse the entire game? What if I find that I can't keep up and decide to drop out? I wouldn't want to spoil the fun for you guys.

 

I think it's been pretty loose so far. No worries And if you gotta leave for a week, kidnap your own character or something. That's what I did. If you wanna drop out, just kill your character off.

Alrighty I will make up the character profile then and try to play. Only two questions:

1)Do I HAVE to read through all the already written seven pages first? (Perhaps someone could give me a brief summary of who, what, where and when?)
2)Do I need some kind of cue or do I just plug myself in as I wish?

 

Well, I think you would be able to write posts that fit with the story better if you read the whole thing (oh come on, it's not that long!).

And as long as you join in at a "convenient" time i think it'll be alright.

 

Hm, what we generally do is ask a couple of questions all together, so that the other character can imagine there are pauses in between and therefore "interact" with the first character. My character has only been attributed words like "I" or "Thank you" by someone else, but no more than that. I guess that, as long as it's not something relevant, you can have a friendly conversation with another character.

No, there isn't. Dark Elf started it all, but each of us has developed the story in our own direction. This Discussion thread is used to chat a bit about the story, but we're not actually following a predetermined plot, we just add a little bit here and a little bit there and that's it.

No, it wouldn't. It has already happened, you just get pounded on the head.

Hello guys. I'm new to the forum after recently getting Arcanum and noticed you had a roleplay section so I figured I would join up. This character I'm using has more background than I could write. He started as a 12 year old mage apprecentice when I first used him in D&D. Since then, he has been developed through D&D, Dungeon Siege, TOEE, NWN, and some other things. Oh well, enough about him. I've been roleplaying for a number of years and greatly enjoy it. I'm looking forward to joining you guys.
