Most people's IP addresses change with time, unless they've forked up for a static IP, which they generally only need to run a server of some sort with. It is of course possible to ban IP ranges, but we've had issues with that catching non-fuckwits in the net as well, so I generally banned all known IP's of a user and their usernames. Tedious, but there's nothing that can really ever be done to stop people from posting again and again from different computers all over the place apart from e-mail validation, which is a total pain in the arse and not particularly reliable either.

Spooky, in order to not make people hate you, you need to learn a thing or two about forum etiquette. Most importantly, you need to learn your place. Let me put it like this: I've only been in the Army for a year. I'm not gonna tell my platoon sergeant (who has been in longer than I've been alive) that he needs to shine his boots, even if they look like crap. If he tells me to shine my boots, I do it and I do it as soon as possible. I don't make him tell me again. If I don't listen, I'm gonna end up getting smoked.

If you don't listen to your fellow forumers, you will end up getting flamed. Or banned.

 

OOOOH, flammed or banned, let me explain something to you.

If I were in the army and someone were in fact in a position of authority where my life, the lives of my comrades and or mission would be placed in jeapordy were I insubordinate I would relent to your logic, however no one here or anywhere has precedent above me in terms of stating my opinions and I really don't give a shit if you like that or not, your opinions aren't more important than mine because you've been here longer.

Obviously you know nothing of the nature of discipline. The reason it's enforced in day to day life in the army is so that when a crisis DOES come along you automatically obey, and don't start trying to apply your slow-moving logic as to whether or not this is a dangerous situation.

Hence why it is a good idea to always listen to those with power when you are in their domain, because the day will come when they mean, you will hesitate and get fucked up the arse for it.
