Two questions: 1.) When I talked to the phrenologist in Tarant there was an option to ask him about the skulls I had, but I accidentally clicked out of the conversation, and when I tried to talk to him again the option was gone. Did I just screw up part of the quest or miss out on a clue or something? 2.) Maximillian sent me to talk to a friend in Cumbria, but after spending a night in Tarant for some reason my journal updated to say the quest was botched. I tried reloading a previous save and heading straight to Dernholm without a stop in Tarant, and the same thing happened on the same date. Is this a bug, or does the guy just keel over on April 27th no matter what? (Though in that case it seems like it would have made more sense to wait until my character actually found him dead before showing it in the journal.) I'd check this stuff out in a walkthrough or something, but I have a deathly fear of spoilers...
You've already been greeted, but still, welcome I'll try to give you spoiler-free help. 1) I should think so. If he's not interested anymore, then you're free to forget the skulls in some rubbish bin. Of course, provided that you are not interested in the other quest concerning the skulls. 2) I think there is only one quest based on time, and it's not even strict about the limit. Provided you didn't kill anyone in Dernholm, it should work. If you haven't, and it still happens, then it is a bug. Are you patched? Edit: I'm glad to read you know about the Edit button.
1)Did the same thing, i don't think is something really important. 2)Bug, i think. Are you patched? Hey Bunny, whitch quest is time based?? Never saw one before!
1) So there's two quests? I'm trying to find Arthur What's-His-Name right now, and I was thinking the phrenologist might have been about to offer a hint. Because frankly I haven't the faintest clue where to look for him, or what the crow is supposed to be or really anything about the skulls at all. The guy I met in the pub isn't being very helpful. I'm basically just moving on with the main quest for now and hoping to run across Arthur sometime by accident. 2) I've got the patch, and I never killed anyone. The only time I was in Dernholm was to talk to Praetor about the taxes.
1) The guy in the middle of tarant, stanfing on a little "Island" talk to him, do as he says. and you'll get the quest from another guy. 2) Which of the patches?
Yes, there are two quests. And I'll give you a little hint: gnomes won't help you. As regards Arthur (Tyron? Don't remember it myself ), don't worry, you'll find him later, if you are curious enough to do some door-to-door investigation in a city. Then it's a bug. The patch is not flawless, you know? The one in which you have to collect a fee. I thought she'd had that quest, since she knows about Arthur.
1)I think you find a note on the floor of a house in Blackroot, is close to the halfling mage. It's been some time since i played Arcanum so i think whe are talking about the same quest. 2)Bug, but im not sure. You're having many bugs! Strange.
Yeah, I already talked to that guy, and I found the note in Blackroot. I don't know where to look next, but I think I'll just put that whole quest on the back burner for now and concentrate on other things. As for the other quest, I have the most current patch (from the official page), so I don't know what's going on there. When I get home I'll head to Dernhom and investigate.
Sigh. I'm pretty sure I said I didn't want spoilers, or at least strongly implied it. Oh well, too late now. I'll still be dealing with this quest later, as I'm in the middle of something else right now, and I'm not even sure where Caladon is yet. (Please note that that was NOT an invitation to blurt out the coordinates...) As for the Dernholm quest, I went there and found out the guy I was looking for died years ago. I talked to his daughter Lianna and said I had a message from Maximillian, but when she asked me where he was I couldn't tell her, the only option was 'Goodbye'. So something's still screwy there. I'll try talking to Maximillian again when I go back to the Isle, but I've pretty much given this one up for a loss. Oh, and off topic, but I just met Anorrax for the first time. Awesome voice, he gives me shivers. Kind of surprised Virgil didn't have anything to say about him aftertwards, since that was the first real evidence my char has seen that he isn't some well-intentioned but still completely loony religious nut.
Do we have to use the spoiler tag even when we don't want to give out spoilers just because some people didn't pay attention when she said she didn't want spoilers?! I'm sorry, I'm sorry... But it's very unfair, I've been trying to write spoiler-free, which is really hard for me and then he *points at Gabriel* comes and... he's so annoying, I hate him! (How's that for an emo kid?)
About the technical questions I don't care. But when you talk about stuff in the later part of the game it's preferable. She's not the only one who will read your answears, some completely new might find it when he's looking for answears to some other (similar) problem.
I did get the skulls for him, but he didn't take them from my inventory, just told me to go find Arthur Tyron.
.... Same thing, if you get them for Matt de Whatever outside wellington's(even if he doesn't physically take them) you can't get the phrenologist quest for them. You have to get the skulls then do the phrenologist's quest first, then speak to Matt outside wellington's to get the second quest to get them back from the phrenologist. As for hints to Arthur, there are none(in-game). It is similar to the N'tala necklace quest you get starting out in Shrouded Hills whereas there are no clues to the item(in this case the npc's) location. You just have to keep an eye out for them in the game, in the case of the necklace keep an eye on people's inventories.
