Problem with patch 1.0.7.0 french

Hi everybody !
I have a problem after installing the patch 1.0.7.0 (french version) : the game can't be launch anymore ! I am frozen on the windows screen (can move cursor, but nothing else), and I have to switch off the computer. I can't even launch the "safe mode" of Arcanum !!
My config : Win98SE, Duron 800, CM Abit KT7A Raid, 320 Mo RAM, GeForce2 GTS 32Mo, Guillemot Maxisound Fortissimo, Pioneer DVD-Rom 104S.
I installed all the latest drivers, tried to disable sound card, tried older graphic drivers. It seems that the game freeze before checking the CD.
One strange thing : The files version.txt, Arcanum.inf and the registry say I have the version 1.0.6.4 (before installing the new patch), but the version displayed in the game is 1.0.6.6 !
Does anyone have the same problem ?
Any idea (even stupid ! :smile is welcome.

 

Solution

I found the solution. I post it cause it may be helpful for someone else.

I have another CD-Rom drive, and when I put the CD in this one, the game works fine. So, 2 reasons for that problem :
- Either this is a problem with Pioneer DVD Rom
- Or, after the patch is installed, the game look for the CD only in the first cd rom drive letter (for me, the CD rom is the first and the DVD rom is the second in the drive letters order.)

It's strange that it just happen in the french version.
