    OK.

    I came back from the Black Mountians, and I noticed that I needed to talk to Bates...

    But I killed him...

    How else can I get to those islands, without getting Bates info?

    Go to the docks in Ashbury and talk to Teach. He's always taken me, Bates or no Bates.

    Teach is the guy that Bates indicate right??...because if it is how does he take you when you didn't talk to Bates??....

    You can go back and forth as many times as you like until you get the required main quest information from Thorvald.
