I put this in the Hints & Tips section because it may prove helpful for the journeys on foot the beginners may take. Well, the areas mentioned in the poll may not have those names, but I guess that, by looking at your maps you'll easily guess what my "partition" of Arcanum intended to be. I, for one, consider the were-rats in the (south of the) Morbihan Plains to be real ass-kicking.
Caladon is the capital of Arland. It's the kingdom south of the Glimmering Forest, west of the Stonewall.
Instead of going straight to the world map when you first leave the crash site, keep walking and go on a wolf hunt, see how far you can get.
I always go through it with newly created characters... then again, I'm heavily into ÃœB@R MUNCHKIN TEH WIN builds so...
Yeah, tried that fight with Stringy Pete last night. Friggin' hard, that one. Had to try it three times before I succeeded. Had to use a variety of potions (extra damage resistance, haste, ...) on myself and my followers to pull it off and used about thirty molotov cocktails, although they did little harm. And had to do called shots to the arms of those skeletons so they would eventually drop their weapons. Another hard fight this time through was in that haunted castle in Ashbury. I think I was only level 12 or so when I tried it, as a technologist. The lesser skeletons and tattered bowmen were easy enough, but damn those Lord's Slaves! They're pretty deadly when you're still a low level character.
I NEVER. What I always do though is that I kill everything else at the Crash Site before taking on the wolves. Occasionally I do the quest for Arbalah before the wolves too.
I'd never encountered a vorpal bunny till March... Those are scary indeed, but it's a good thing they won't mess with you unless you try to bug them.
