my kid loves weebls. but only three of his videos. badger makes her bob her head. kenya makes her stand up and bounce up and down. and magical trevor sends her into some sort of weird trance. she can be in the middle of a high-end tantrum, and if i put on trevor, she goes limp, stares at the screen, and doesn't move or make a sound till i turn it off... soooo weird. also, if i sing the song but don't put it on, she screams and hits me...

You know what the solution is, don't you rosie? Get her some headphones, and plonk her in front of a screen all day long.

Of course, when she's a zombie in an asylum, you can sue the Intarweb for destroying your daughter's brain and make millions.

Sounds like the combination of the sights and sounds are just so shocking and fascinating to her that it takes her mind off her tantrum. How old is she? Small children can react to strange stimuli sometimes, but it's usually nothing to worry about as long as you don't let them over-expose themselves to it.

see how she reacts to this... http://www.marichan.com/img/pf/men.gif

As for the strange stimuli, if I'm ever fortunate enough to reproduce I'll do my best to live without television, and keep the child away from toy stores of all kinds. Advertising, and consumerism in general shall be taboo, as well as bright shiny colors and plastic shit made in taiwan.

If you mean it took me ten hours to spot the reference, it's because I'm not one of those persons who is constantly refreshing the page hoping something will turn up. I browse the forums once per day or less. I posted as soon as I read your post.
Ah well. I'll just make cookies of my own (read: eat a pack of Oreos...)

You're not living if your computer warming up sounds like a NASCAR rally, you devote at least 4 hours a day to a fun activity, and you drink like a demon.

I consider that living, and how did you know my computer sounds like a NASCAR rally? And now my computer is at 27 degrees celcius and I'm off to go drink like a demon.

My computer hovers around 27 °C all the time and, with seven fans, sounds like a cross between NASCAR and Formula 1. To add to the mix, I have two of the beasts in the room, so the room temp stays at roughly 27 °C, even when it's down to 4 °C outside. Forget the warming up nonsense though, my computers run 24/7 and are usually busy doing something during that time. If I could afford them and could get the temp down, I would have a couple more computers so I could get more done - I wish. I truly believe in multitasking!

I guess some ppl should invest few bucks in silent cooling systems. 19dB fans are cheap (starts at 6USD) and easy to get nowdays, for example Arctic, Papst and many more brands. Also you can buy some passive stuff, like heat pipes from Zalman, Thermaltake or whatever, or thise huge copper radiators.

And one more thing - who the fuck cares for below 30°C if the CPUs can work with 60 degrees no problem? Mu comp is on for like 3 years nearly non-stop with 100% CPU usage at 55°C and everything is perfectly fine.

Ah, "Noriko", 19dB fans also move practically no air. I've got fans in my case that run at 72dB. THEY move air.
