Is it posibile to change items that random generated NPC have on them ex.: that the city guards and bandit orcs in Tarrent have guns instead of pipes and swords, and if so can anybody make a breaf sugestion as to how?
Actually, those NPCs aren't really randomly generated, but yes it is possible to change what items they are carrying. The orcs' items are actually governed by either InvenSourc entry ThugScavs Undw/RustyDagger(m) or ThugScavs Undw/Pipe(m) and changing those will change what items they are carrying. Most of the city guards are wearing an "Officer's Uniform", so they will have that Inventory Source. The few that are in chain mail are the exception to that and there doesn't seem to be an Inventory Source specifically for them. The point of telling you all this is that you can either download the InvenSource Hack or extract the InvenSource.mes file from Arcanum4.Dat and edit it to change what they are carrying all by yourself if you really want to do so. On the other hand, this is an open forum, so you are welcome to say what you think should be done. Someone might even listen to you and use some of your ideas in a future mod release. Since I don't like the fact that there are so many NPCs running around effectively naked - you get almost nothing off of them if you kill them - I was already planning to make some changes in that area in the mod I'm working on.
Thanks Sinbad, I'll try that some time, I just think that there aren't enough tech users in a tech advanced world like Arcanum, every gard uses a sword and few robbers use guns and rifles and allmost nobody uses electricaty and granates and why, just so that the player could be the only one to use them. By the way if you put granates in someones inventory and give them a point in throwing will they use them in combat?
Actually, I've noticed that most NPCs will use throwing weapons such as chakrams or knives over normal weapons whenever possible, but I am not sure about grenades or other manufactured throwing items. Try it and let me know.
