I've read many posts that say Virgil leaves and one or two that indicate it's supposed to be just after the dark elves. I've killed all the dark elves and got the info, but Virgil hasn't left. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't kill the elves outside the dark elf camp ( My alignment is -9 and I'm trying to do good deeds so people stop randomly attacking me in towns ) When exactly does he leave and is it imperative to the quest?
Thanks for the help, but, he didn't. T'sen ang is a smouldering ruin filled with corpses and I have returned to the elven village with the news of the dark elf plot for Raven (I've even gone back to Caladon, solved the murders and started on the main questline again) but He hasn't left. When I left T'sen ang, I was attacked by some elves (see first post) but ran away (I'm trying to lose some of my reputation as an evil grave robbing necromancer) Is killing these elves what causes him to leave? Is it vitally important to the plot that he leave? Any info/Advice/Help is much appreciated
Hmph. I didn't have any problem. In fact I was quite annoyed when Virgil left unnanounced and I had to restore and make sure I took all the stuff he was lugging around for me before doing it again. It may be that slaughtering the dark elves is your problem. When you go down out of the tree and into combat mode to take out those two guards, it could be interfering with Virgil's script. Otherwise, maybe it has something to do with evil alignment. It's not absolutely necessary for Virgil to leave. From what I understand (never got that far in the game), when you get him back he loses some levels (unless you're below 25) but gains access to black necromancy. Plotwise, it's not hugely important, I don't think. On a side note, how evil did you have to be before you started getting attacked by townsfolk. I had a necromancer that got down to -30 or 40 before I started over to play a technologist, and I never had that problem.
I was about -20 or so and a couple villagers in ashbury attacked me, the guards in the castle in caladon attacked me from the other side of a locked door (that was damn annoying, put me in combat mode and I couldn't get out of it) and a couple guards in ashbury. In none of these instances was I up to anything nasty, just pootling about saying hi to people to find out what was going on in the town (oh, apart from the guards in ashbury, when I had just done a spot of retrieval for the guy who wanted his armour. I suppose I shouldn't have been in there as far as the law was concerned, still damn annoying and I'm thinking good characters wouldn't have had such a problem) Thanks for the info though =] [ This Message was edited by: Jo on 2001-09-22 21:04 ]
well only loghair to get a better ending. by the way the game has an interesting shitty bug. When you reach the sobbing onions, you see virgil dead right? But if you run down instatly when you go down the basement in turn mode and attack the guys who are whacking virgil they will leave him and go after you. And he will still be alive. when he wakes up since he was uncouncies. he says something about being dead. witch is very stupid since he did not die. Pityful if you ask me
