need some help with game's "hud"

When i started the game, the game was not running in full screen, that is the "hud" with all the buttons/icons was on. Now i have done something that make the game run in full screen at all times, something i dont want. Pressing M will bring up the "hud"... until i use the character, or inventory, or map screens. When i try to go back to the regular screen the hud goes off and i am again in full screen mode until i press M. Is it possible to lock the lock the "hud" in place. Its annoying to have to use keys all the time. Thanks

You must be using a different version of the game and/or windows. In my version pressing the M key brings up my spells, and the F9-F12 keys do nothing.

I had this problem and it drove me nuts. Until I realised that Arcanum creates three shotcuts in your start menu. (Arcanum, Arcanum fullscreen and Arcanum safemode).
I'd copied the fullscreen SC to my desktop and had been using that....

Annoying but easily fixed
