    NP=Noise Penalty
Some armors make noise and have a NP modifier that affects your success at prowling. The spellfailure noise is an effect of your Tech Aptitude(TA). Virgil is using magical healing on you and your TA is too high for it to be effective always. Give Virgil some bandages or go to Dernholm and pick up Janya Stiles.

hmm....so Virgil is pretty much useless now as I'm indeed a bit techy....

I read in some other threads that the opinions on Janya arent very high. Is she worth it and wont she leave in Tarant?
Can Dante not heal me very well too?

Is it the higher your TA is the better you can preform technical skills (like lockpicking) and the higher your MA is the more powerful your spells are?
(so casting a spell with high TA wont make much sense?)

something totally different, I did the netwerk option with a friend...and basicly it totally sucks.....
you each have to talk to every person and accept every quest yourself, while you actually are a team. and I cant switch the game to turn based combat as host (or can I), which gets us butchered way too fast.
has anyone experience with this and are there maybe downloads or something to make it more fun?

I think Jayna makes a mighty fine techie healer. For a techie I mean, magic obviously does have many more capable healers. Dante is a magic healer too, so if you're to techie for Virgil, you're probably too techie for Dante.

Of course, that also depends on how techie, for 2 reasons. First off, Virgil is simply incompetant. Secondly, Virgil stays at a neutral aptitude, a trick that those lockpicking points accomplish. I think it's so it's a little easier for people to play tech. Dante goes all out for magic, therefore his spells are stronger, meaning they go through more than Virgil's if you are slightly tech.

Getting back to Jayna, she is a decent healer. Not only does she get herbology, she also gets therapeutics. It's very nice when you want a little St or Dx pick me up.

MA does affect spell strength, but TA affects the use of technological items in general, not the skills. What affects the skills are, A. the number of points put into the skill, and B. the value of the skill dependant stat, which, in the case of lockpicking, is Dx. Putting points into those skills affects your TA, but, I repeat, TA does not affect the skills.

I never play networks, I play online, so I don't know about your problem with the quests, it's never happened to me in one of my games. On your second point, there is no turn based in multiplayer. It just is not available, probably so people didn't go afk and leave everyone waiting for them to kill a sewer rat.

If you're playing Vormantown and you at at low levels, I know exactly what you are talking about, the monsters start at like level 3-6. It's not too fair for low level guys. Hellgate and Arcanum Travels are alot better. Hellgate you can pick up here, but Arcanum Travels hasn't been mass distributed yet. I can dig out the link for it though, my friend is the one making it.

I would offer to host a game and help you level up a bit, but I'm running a 56k, and a very annoying 56k at that. When I host it either freezes or runs for a second then crashes and attacks me with little error popups. If you want to check out my clan though, there are a couple of kids over there who can host well. Go into that webpage link at the bottom of the message for a link over there. I'm sure one of them would be glad to give you a hand leveling up your guy.

Jayna is the best tech healer around. She has relatively low ST- but enough to hold a Pyro axe if without a shield. Also, as Blinky said, she can make elixirs that give you nice temporarily boosts to your ST, DX, PE and Persuasion.

Dante CAN heal techies with the Major Heal spell- but it costs the poor guy too much fatigue, and he won't do it automatically unless you are REALLY seriously hurt.

    Yep, you got that right.

Shrouded Hills, Tarant, Ashbury and Caladon. :) They're on the outskirts of town, being gypsy ladies. I find it hard to believe that you left Shrouded Hills without seeing her, but I suppose it's possible.

There's no magick shop in Shrouded Hills.

Didn't you tell me you finished the game a "zillion" times? Heh, and I don't hate you, I just hate your avatar. ;)

Yea, kind of strikes me as a blond, womanizing penis man avatar.
