I'm a woman, and I.....do it..... While I can't speak for anybody else, the reason I don't feel comfortable talking about it is because I was a pretty prudish and private person, growing up. It took up to my mid-twenties for me to stop feeling repulsed or embarrassed by dirty jokes, never mind admission of masturbation. (Cracking my stepfather's document password (it wasn't hard) when I was a curious teen and reading the sex stories and dead baby jokes he kept on the family computer might've helped a bit in that regard.)

Perhaps i should have explained my opinion in a less obscure way. Girls dont talk about things like masturbation, or sex the way men do for the same reason they are more prone to anorexia. The media, and our culture (and the media is quickly becoming our culture... ) sheds a bad light on people like Courtney Love, but the glorify people like Howard Stern, its just the way it is. If Howard Stern was femal and had men getting undressed, and showing off genital piercings on her (his) show, either no one would watch it, or it would be on at 4 in the morning on the Oxygen Channel.

Well, you do have a good point, our culture does make those double standards, but that doesn't mean something actually IS that way, it just means the more shallow majority of our population chooses to SEE it that way.

 

The name is partly a reference to my favorite character in an ancient Ideal boardgame called The Sinking of the Titanic - Dr. Sigfried Fraud - and partly a reference to the fact that I believe some of Freud's theories were total nonsense. (Penis envy, my eye!) I'm neither a psychiatrist (unfortunately) nor a necrophiliac (fortunately). The dead baby jokes helped by desensitizing me to gross humor, more than anything.
