    Ok lads,

So I've just recovered my old original Arcanum game, and removed the dust from it. I was thinking...I have always been and will always be in love with this game, which is my best game ever. So much personnality...

I've just reinstalled it, and I'm going to read AmTUT.

Anyone wants to join me in making a huge module, mp-compatible, looking like the original game, with new features and stuff?

I'd like to share my love of this game with you guys, I hope it's not too late.

Let's stay in touch, shall we?

    Michael (France)

    Yup.

Read through quite a lot today.
I don't know what to say. I'd say first that I have some time ahead, I've not planned to die in the next 10 years. Furthermore I'll add that I find the community quite despising, haughty and unconstructive with this kind of sufficient pointing-out.
    But it's up to you!

And by the way I have some good knowledge of WorldEd from when I was a kid and I was modding just for fun.

    Whatever!

I would like to work with someone else on a module, but I think your scale is a little big. Perhaps you should create a small module first, just to get the feel for things, and to see if you can't make something that's worth wandering around in. This is what I am currently doing, trying to create a module that's relatively simple...then perhaps once you've done that, and have something to show people, they might be more excited at the prospect of working together.
For myself, I'd like to see that you can follow something small through to completion. Also, I'd like to be able to judge the quality, and more than that the style, of your work. I think that's a reasonable place to start.
Just so you know, it's not that I doubt your sincerity. What I would like to be confident in, is that you won't get a little ways into it, and become frustrated and give up. It's the same that I'm testing in myself, my ability to actually create the hundred or so NPCs, dialogs, and few hundred scripts that go into a small adventure. Then we can start talking about the several thousand that go into a reasonably sized adventure. Hope that makes sense.

    Sure!

Well, I'm off to Ireland for the year to come, I'll leave in a few more days, but as I pointed out (or not), I've time enough. I don't think I'll play any games for the year to come, I hope so anyway, but I've got patience and time and courage to complete my undertakings usually.
Strange enough, I've always been disappointed by most of the mods I've tested so far. Maybe you people have come up with decent mods recently.
Maybe I've not come across the good ones, maybe I'm just too lazy to browse through forums to get mods and to browse through forums to get them working.
Anyway, I'll do this you're right man, I shall make a few mods, finish my reading of amtut and maybe eventually gather a few cyber-friends so as to create a modding team.
By the way I remember I used to have drawing skills. I'll try to recover em^^
Whatever, really got to go to bed, got work in the morning.
I must own that I was quite surprised by the quickness of the replies, the community seems definitely still alive (?)

Woah, seems like Ireland is taking over this forum!

    Republic or Northern Ireland, xfewagainstmanyx?

Nothern Ireland isn't Ireland! The Republic is the only good part! Unless it's cheap fireworks you're looking for.

GarmGarf and I are both from Dirty Dublin, though his part isn't as "Dirty" as my shithole area is.

Come on, I hear there are nice so-called "Jazz Festivals" in Cork. You know festivals in which there are but rock bands and everybody drinks beer :)

    :)

I'm quite willing to discover it and go beyond my prejudices and stereotypes though. I know so little about Ireland really :(
I'm currently reading a book from a genuine Irish historian (that I suppose well known to you), namely R. F. Foster. It's quite complicated though. I mean, for someone like me that used to study rather US & British history. I'm quite lost between all the subtle fringes of the society. (I still can't tell the difference between The National Volonteers and Ulster Volunteer Force^^, or which ones are the good guys and which ones are the bad guys, assuming such a thing exists^^)

The National Volunteers are the volunteer army of the Republic who are fighting for Ireland's freedom against Britian.

They wanted to remain part of the UK up the north, so the Ulster Volunteers are fighting the Home Rule movement that is trying to be put in place.

The National Volunteers are the good guys.

Wouldn't fighting for freedom make you a "freedom fighter"?
