    http://www.doom9.org
    http://www.vcdhelp.com

Those are two very good sites with active forums. Both are also excellent sources for downloading the software you'll need to rip and encode.

Doom9 focuses mostly on DivX/Xvid, but I'm sure there's VCD stuff there, too. VCDHelp focuses mostly on VCD/SVCD stuff. I'm not a huge fan of VCD or SVCD rip; The quality isn't very good and the file sizes are large compared to a nice DivX rip. If you need to play it on a DVD player, though, you're stuck with it.

PS - Hope you got a ton of hard drive space and a pretty fast computer. I have a 2.4ghz Pentium with 512mb of RAM and it sometimes 3.5-4 hours to transcode audio and make two passes on video. This is at 640xXXX resolution and DivX 5, though. I imagine it would be faster encoding 320x240 mpegs, but I don't really know. Either way, if you have a slow computer, be prepared to leave it on for a long time.

ive tried some software that can be found at http://www.burnworld.com
most can only convert a portion of the DVD, (maybe because its a demo).

I have a 1Ghz 256mb RAM PC it took around 3-4 hrs on average to rip it
and the quality is not good...

Maybe its time to save up for the DVD player for the TV.

or maybe there is an easier way to transmit the video from the PC to
the TV, have any you guys know anything about this?

    and thanks for the help...

its kinda like ripping an audio cd to mp3s
but in this case DVD to mpeg or divX or s/vcd
