The Arcanum subreddit and one of its rollicking good larks. Also no idea of what to make of this, maybe Smuel needs to lay down some sick rhymes alongside it.

    Good morning.

I guess your days of sick rhymes are over???:mad::mad:

TA does not have good smileys anymore, I was hoping for some sort of consternation but angry red rage it has to be. Good morning.

Does anyone here like baguettes? I find them tough and annoying to eat. Given the choice between a sandwich made with normal square sandwich bread, or a baguette with the same filling, I would always choose the ordinary sandwich, because my teeth are capable of biting easy mouthfuls and the filling doesn't get catapulted into my lap from the jolt when I finally manage to tear through the bread.

Yet everyone acts like baguettes are the pinnacle of bread development, and only uncultured rubes would prefer bread cut from mass produced square loaves. As far as I know I don't have particularly dainty teeth or weak jaw muscles, so I don't understand why everyone else either doesn't have this issue with baguette-style bread, or else pretends to enjoy it anyway. The only reason I can think of is that nobody wants to admit that they aren't a sophisticated Francophile.

    But please, enlighten me.

    Good morning.

I think baguettes are a pain...

There's a pun in there somewhere. Good morning.

And when the baguette is done, they can earn some dough. ;) That being said, let us hope that they are not giving you a Pret a Manger baguette, ah?

    Good morning.

I have another Swedish language question for our resident Swedians.

There is a painting from 1775 titled "Lillan iklädes korsett", which shows a little girl being laced into a corset by a woman. What is a good translation of the title into English? My own guess is ""Lillan being dressed in a corset", where Lillan is the girl's name, being a shortened form of "Elisabet". Alternatively, "Lillan" could mean something along the lines of "little one", so then it would be "A little girl being dressed in a corset". Is that completely off base?

God morron, och ha det bra.

Curiously, I can't find the painting you are referring to and since the resident swedes haven't answered I can only assume that you're up to no good Smuel. Trick questions and all...

Anyway, your second guess is the most likely one, but your translation is a bit too neutral I think, with Lillan being a more endearing and familiar term. Are there no suitable alternatives in English? The only reference of Lillan being a name that I've seen is Mysteriet på Greveholm.

In other news, Microsoft is apparently buying Obsidian. And my house is getting demolished.

All in all, it's been a good morning.

Is it even a good idea that Microsoft is going to buy Obsidian? Let us hope that they are not like E.A and fucked it all up.

Wait....so you did not lie down in the mud to stop the bulldozer's progress?

Yes, it appears it's National Don't Log Onto The Forum week in Sweden.

Or maybe it's just National Nuts To Smuel And His Lame Linguistic Lament week.

For an endearing term, there's "darling", or the more modern "sweetie-pie". I quite like "Sweetie-pie being dressed in a corset", although it might be a bit anachronistic for 1775. The case is not yet closed, so any further suggestions would be gratefully received.

Sorry to hear about your house getting demolished. Or maybe congratulations on your house being demolished? Without more context it's hard to tell. I was once living in an apartment block which got demolished, but before that the local council had the good manners to buy my flat from me at above market rates, so I didn't mind at all. Then again, I don't really get emotionally attached to things that aren't money.

    Good morning.

I'm starting to wonder if "Lillan iklädes korsett" is some kind of magic key phrase that shuts down the forum. Similar to what "Klaatu barada nikto" does for alien technology.

    Good morning.
