Reviewscan.org has done a Review Scan on Arcanum, meaning that they surfed around a bit and put all interesting Arcanum links in one handy place. Since they quote my GA-RPG preview on the page (yippee!), it's a must-read :-)
Thanks go out to Arcanum-X for the news

New preview at CGO
CGO has a new preview, based on their experiences with the beta. The article contains a fair bit of info and is well-written, although it doesn't provide anything us hardcore fans don't already know.

The fierce competition for the souls of the world's Arcanum fans has now been stepped up with the launch of spiffy fansite Arcanum X. If you, due to some obscure reason I cannot possibly fathom, feel the need to check out other Arcanum sites than the one run by our spectacular selves, feel free to check them out.

Chat Over - Edited Log Available
After diligently slaving away into the wee hours of the night, we can now present the previous chat log in a nice, edited and more readable state. Those who missed Saturday's developer chat session are recommended to trudge on over here and read this aesthetically pleasing, colour-coded log file.

Chat over - Unedited log available
We got off to a bit of a slow start due to some technical problems (Kaz', a Gamesnet IRC Operator, saved the day), but overall the chat was a success. You can find an unedited log of the event here. We'll have an edited log available soonish.

REMINDER: DEV CHAT TODAY
Just a reminder: at 4 PM Pacific time (PST) / 7 PM Eastern time (EST), I will expect to see each and every one of you in the channel #arcanum on the irc.gamesnet.net IRC server. Why? Because you'll have to opportunity to ask the Troika folks questions!
The event will be hosted by... US! Woohoo!

More AI goodness
I'll just copy-paste the post from Tim Cain:

There was a bug in the demo where explosives didn't always anger people to the right person. This has been fixed. Also, when you are able to pick off someone near someone else who does not react, this means those people are on different faction (which is probably a bug in this case).

A lot of this has changed since the demo. I have broadened the definition of who will help other people, plus I made those people who DON'T want to help in combat flee the scene. These fleeing people will cause any guards who see them to go to where they are fleeing from.

This new code caused the following scene:

I entered a bar and attacked a patron. His nearby buddies attacked me as well, but the other patrons and the barkeep ran outside yelling "Aiiiieee!". A guard walking up the street saw them and ran into the bar and popped me good. I died horribly.

This new code also means that if you attack a shopkeeper first, his guards will attack you, but if you attack his guards first, the shopkeeper will run out in the street, attracting even more guards.

We are living in interesting times. :)

Tim Cain on followers using their tech disciplines
I'll just copy paste the thing from the Inn:

Ok, I have spent yesterday making the schematic interface work with NPC's. Basically, you can ask a follower to show his schematics, and you can look through them just like you would look through your own schematics. If he has the skill and the items, you press the Combine button and he makes the item, which ends up in his inventory. He will even wield it immediately if he likes it.

Wow. Follower interaction is getting better every minute.

Awards! Awards for Troika!
In the 2000 Vault Network Awards, our Troikan heroes gained a grand total of two well-earned awards in recognition of their service to mankind. And without having released a single game yet, at that! Specifically, Troika Games received the award for Outstanding Achievement In Community Building and Troika Artist/Office Manager Sharon Shellman was handed the prestigious Spokesperson Of The Year award. Although the misinformed fools over at VaultNet gave the award for Fansite of the Year to the much-less-deserving-than-us diabloii.net, we're happy that the community efforts of the Troikaites do not go unnoticed.

Arcanum Developer Journal up at IGN PC
Gaming site IGN PC have posted the first in a series of a "few" Arcanum developer journals. This one has ever-eloquent Troika writer Chad Moore detailing how it's like to record the voices for a game, all told a decidedly unique fashion.

Demo release date...
Here's what Shellman posted about it on the official Sierra board:

We have a tentative March date on the demo. The demo will not be released until the game is close to completion, as it is a demo, the purpose of which is to increase sales, we would like it to be as close to the "final" code as possible. (so that all bugs and such are cleaned up)

Stuff at the Official Site
The folks at Sierra have aparantly spent days working on this week's update. We are given a new screenshot. Oh, the scope of this new information is certainly staggering. I can but think of a single word that can describe my emotional turmoil. Yay.
