Is there any way that I can use the world map to leave a town? Also what do colors on the map mean. some towns are yellow dots and some are red others are green.
    What does this mean?
I'm a newbie so don't get mad at me.

by the way if u want to leave town, just go to the edge of the towns and go further until ur map turns to a blue globe and ur off. except for shrouded hills there is only one place to go out and it is across the brige

Yellow means the newest location you just found out. So if you go to other location and not the yelllow one, the yelow one will disappear.

elrond- either get Sogg and beat 'em senseless, get the Summon Ogre spell, pay them money, put points into Persuasion and tell 'em you're a member of the THieve's Guild, or blow up the Bridge SUpplies. The last one's the easiest, as it requires NO skills of ANY kind except the AUTOSAVE button!

    !!!

    AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Sogg is a smart one he is! Hmm...WAS. Seriously, that is one thing that has really annoyed me with the AI. I've had numerous times where an NPC would just stand on a fire, damage their armor and/or kill themselves. There should be some sort of threat indicator in the pathing.

    yep

I thought it was so dumb I did not know he was being hurt until virgil started healing him and fell and burned up in the fire.

I am a human mage when I first started and beating the thieves at the bridge isn't that easy. Even with Sogg in my team. What I did was to cast harm on both team and start running by the mine. They can't follow me there so I stay there until I gain enough fatigue. Then go out and continue killing. Keep repeating until I finish them. One ogre either got tired or eaten by wolves because when I went back to see him he is already dead.

an amusing way is to make a deal with him and then use the dynomite on him.
I just attacked without warning and let fate decide. you might try granades also

If you rob the bank but don't give Ben his share or kill him, when you go to leave town the bandits are all dead but Doc and two guards are waiting for you. They are probably at least as tough as the thieves, but it should be listed as an alternate means of getting past them (there are gate keys on both Doc and the corpse of the thief leader).

I was playing evil with an Elf Necromancer who had sold his soul, so I had no problem wiping out Doc and the guards with Harm. I imagine it would be almost impossible at that level via technology or regular combat, as Doc is pretty deadly.

Once you get up close to the Doc i.e. melee range, then it's pretty easy to defeat him as long as you do decent damage...I've soloed him before, quite easily...
