I consider myself Liberal Conservative: Let people do what the fuck they want as long as they're not hurting anyone and don't tax them to death either.

 In lieu of that I'd be happy with just being left alone and having a choice as to whether or not I pay certain taxes.

I think the only regulation I really like the idea of is a child/income ratio. If you make less than X per year, you are limited to X children. Violate this more than once, and receive a complimentary tube tying and/or vasectomy.

I think we need taxes to maintain infrastructure. Living in King County, where we did away with 90% of our vehicle taxes (they're no $30 no matter what you drive), our roads SUCK. We can't afford to do any maintenance on them, because the roads department is operating on about 1/5th the budget they need, and nobody will give them any money. They also do the worst job out in the rural areas, because there's less people to complain out here.

... which is why tax cuts should always be done responsibly, which doesn't appear to be the case here. Also, cuts should primarily be made in areas where the state has no business to begin with. It's perfectly reasonable to pay taxes for serviceable roads, it's an entirely different matter to pay fucking TAXES so that "artists" can piss on floors and feign insanity to destroy property and strain the psychiatric care system.

... which, of course, has happened in the socialist utopia of Sweden.

"I imagined a chicken doing a Rod Stewart impression" :-D

I suppose I should clarify: This wasn't a tax cut proposed by the governor, this was a bill that a rich guy got pushed through, so he wouldn't have to pay several thousand per year to license his car collection.

Then I suppose the blame goes with the media that failed to do its job and report on what was happening, and a poorly educated populace that didn't understand what it voted for.

I understand the want for tax cuts, but do cut away the bad branches before chopping down the entire tree, mmmkay?

Wouldn't it make more sense to reduce taxes for people with car collections? Seeing as they can't drive more than one car at a time anyway?

Logic has no place in politics.

And if this censor goes through its not only going to limit what you can see but it will cripple our already pathetic connection speeds. If they want us to 'live in the 21st Century' and do everything online thats going to be hard at dial-up like speeds.

I am looking at my immigration options at the moment.

Support infrastructure that provides services to everyone is what we pay taxes for. Unfortunately we also pay taxes so that the professional alcoholic down the hall who has never held a job for more than a month, and many more like him, can spend their entire day in a bar and then go home to an appartment that's twice as large as the average home of a blue collar worker. We also pay taxes so that people can, instead of getting a job or going to school, continue popping out an unwanted bastard each year by a different guy who usually turns out to be one of those professional alcoholics.
My signature says it well enough I think. After parliament increased the retirement age and simultaneously decreased the retirement benefits, they're confused as to why so many people just don't work anymore.

Wow, DE, sounds like your Greens party have gone down the tubes. Ours aren't that extreme yet, and I'm glad to say that as long as they have people like Michael Ball working for them, they won't get there. *sigh* I've actually grown up amongst several members of the Greens, so I know I can trust them far more than I can trust any of the other parties.

Having said which, now Tony Fucking Abbot (That's his full name, by the way) is in charge of the Liberals, I'm probably going to vote Labor just to keep his insane ass out of the Prime Minister's seat.

To all the people who vote greens in Australia, if you understand Australian politics you would know you are throwing your vote away for a party you probably don't want anyay.

I'm more worried that I won't be able to use facebook when this censorship comes through!

Facebook has no place in my life.

Voting for the Greens is risky unless you vote below the line. If you take the easy route then you just end up voting for Labor via preferences. Preferential voting is a terrible system but its not going to be discarded since the major parties benefit from it so be aware of your vote and make sure you tick EVERY box, make your vote go where you want it to go.

I blame the parents who think having children is a fashion statement.

If we had enough people who could think for themselves in this country, we wouldn't need this ban.

As if they can't figure out someone will get around it eventually.

And I always end up putting smiley faces on my ballot paper anyway.

He's one of the uber-rich, who drives a Ferrari one day, Lamborghini the next, etc. He got the media's support on the grounds that it would lower the costs from 1% of the vehicles value (I believe that's what it was, anyway), to a mere $30, regardless of the cost of the vehicle. The media then criminalized the Department of Transportation, when it said that they would be cutting what they do massively, because of the enormous budget shortfall they would suffer because of this bill.

Excuse me? Are you telling me that you, the idiot foreigner, knows more about how to vote and who to vote for than someone who has grown up in the politics of the nation and who knows damn well what kind of people she's voting for?

You know, I think you've just insulted me more than all your stupid Twilight comments combined.

A wanker, yes, but a well-intentioned wanker. Far better than Tony Fucking Abbott at any rate.

Zanza is from the gold coast, Xiao. He's probably still bellow the voting age and doesn't have a clue, but still.

I actually found some radical independent who wants to legalise guns w/o a license and prostitution fully. You have to admit that more or less all of the current political leaders are idiots, though. Lately I've just been nullifying my vote locally. I don't have a damned clue who I'm voting for in the next federal election.

Well, since you have been released from the Void, there's already enough people for a full tank crew. Or five tanks.

    Six tanks.

Damn you Zanza, your winning spree is getting ridiculous.
