Okay, I have just returned from the Isle of Despair, and noticed something annoying.

Virgil keeps on getting poisoned for some reason.

There are no enemies about, and happens regardless of whether we are in combat or not.

    Anyone experiences this?

Check his gear for cursed or unidentified items.

I really wish NPC's wouldn't equip shit on their own. It's very annoying and they often make the most retarded and inefficient choices possible.

The exact same thing happened to me with another follower. He ended up having hexed boots that poisoned him.

The worst thing that could happen is if they equip that sword in the Tarant sewers. As a rule of thumb, NEVER give unidentified equipment to your followers unless you know it's safe, the AI clearly has suicidal tendencies in this game.

On a slightly related note, I don't have a problem with hexed items, it's just too bad there aren't that many worth equipping. The bad usually outweighs the good to a point where most of it is just useless junk.

First time I got there, I put on the poisonous chainmail in that fire golem cave-thingy. Or was it that cave with the bangellion scourge-destroying forge (ugh, so long since I did that, I can't remember the name). As far as I recall, you can't even unequip that thing so I didn't stand a chance.

The Meta college should include a spell that removes curses and shields you from the ill effects of hexed items. Imagine the opportunities.

That's a good idea, but when you think about it, the meta school itself is innately very powerful. You can instantly destroy any spell effect, shield yourself from all magick, or REFLECT THEM BACK IN SOMEONE'S FACE. The only reason this means nothing in the actual game is that there are precious few enemy spellcasters in the game. And the few that are there don't actually use their spells.

If the AI designed the characters to actually use their spells, you could make a melee/dodge character with enough points in the Meta college to be able to basically deny every spellcaster in the game while simultaneously slicing them up with your sword.

Tell me about it. I found a cursed ring of invisibility that damaged your health 90% and then put a DOT on your character; at level 40+ just equipping this thing killed me XD

heheh, Theres only ONE good Hexed item that i like and thats the dark helm, It makes you evil as all hell, And Boosts your Magick Apt 20, and the good part? the effects are perm so you can reequip it to get 100 magick apt, and -100 Alignment, though you can always do good stuff for + alignment

Strange. I've never been able to.

Maybe I ought to try again.
