Why did I never find the machine gun schematic?

I have finished the game as a lev 45 tech dwarf. I bought all the parts for the machine gun (automatic gun?) pretty early in the game and kept going back to the gunshops in Tarant et. al. but never found the schematic. I ended the game a gun master (expert? whatever the top deal was) and had the other reqs for the gun (strength, perception etc.) So is this schematic purely a random deal (like some of the stuff in Fallout) or what? Thanks. PS using the elephant gun the whole game was boring. I hear the tesla/electrical gun is more fun.

 

The appearance of schematics in stores is completely random. Most have around a 3% chance of appearing each day.

BTW try the Rifled Cannon next time. The damage doesn't look that high but it ignores Damage Resistance so its very effective against the high DR critters like Ore Golems.

BTW. Just in case you did'nt know the Machine gun requires a high Mech. skill to build and the SCHEM is purely random
