I downloaded the patch and since the World Edit now saves the module in Dat files....I have to ask how the hell you actually edit the actual game preferences like you could before the game update.

I'm talking about the rules and stuff. My modules don't have there own folders anymore. Just a dat file. How do I edit my module this way?

If you do a search, you will find that many, many times people have recommended that you use the 1.0.7.0 version of World Editor for modding rather than the 1.0.7.4 version for the very reason that that new version puts everything in Dat files. There are additional reasons, including stability of the editor, but the earlier version of World Editor remains the version of choice for experienced modders. You can download it right here at T-A at The House Of Lords Forum Index -> Terra Arcanum Downloads -> Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura -> Arcanum Modding Tools or use this link http://www.terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/dloa ... &file_id=3, but check out the other modding tools and resources while you are in that area.

Well, apart from unpacking the files, editing them, and then re-packing (oh, what fun :shootme:, you can edit SOME of the files through WorldEd's Edit menu... But overall - yes, I suggest using the 1.0.7.0. version
