    Actually there is a way to get in pits:

    As someone said before me(this is not my advise-I did read it somewhere) you should go north-west of north-western building. It will take a little while but if u went in right direction u will find LV30 Scullcrusher. Kill it and take a look around- there is a staircase surrounded by a few trees: go down,kill few monsters,find halfling. I beliave this is part of some quest, I got the reward,but dont remember getting quest itself,Oh well,whatever gives EXP,right?

    Akela are you sure about the part of how to get into the pit

    Will have a go at it but if anyone has more info that would be great.
