Indeed a very good case mod, yet not steampunk. ;)

I've a couple designs I've dreamed up for steampunk cases. I ever have the means to build them*. I just don't've the funds. Mainly because I designed myself a desk, and am saving up for that. :p

*We've a full woodshop here at my house. =]

Back about 1980, I saw a roll-top desk that had been designed to hide a computer completely within it.
The monitor would lay flat onto the desktop when you were done, the main case was hidden in a file drawer, and all the wiring - except for the power cord - were attached to brackets behind the other drawers.

Finished in antique oak, it looked like it was a hundred years old.

I'd love to find another one. I'd be eatin' on the cheap for a few months!

Actually thats exactly how I'm doing my steam punk pc. In the end I decided it was easier to make just a mouse monitor and keyboard and keep the rest hidden behind fake drawer fronts.

The desk is just stained pine but it looks the part enough at least until I one day manage to convince myself to strip it down and stain it a better colour than fake cedar.

Too bad you're in Aussie. I've all the tools to help you out with a proper staining, or even build a custom desk for you... I'm kinda wanting to start doing that for profit, but it's hard to get started... same with my custom pc cases.

Got any pics of your work?

Best I can suggest to get started is to target a niche and build a reputation. Steampunk is a good example, there is so little stuff out there that the few steampunk pcs that get made are bounced all over the internet relatively quickly.

No, I've scetched out my designs, but I'm a very imaginative person, but a god-awful artist. They're all done via a grid-work, and so it'sn't terribly pretty. I'm intending to build one, if for nothing else than I'll use it for my server case. Thing is, I need to work to make money to build my desk, and THEN start saving to build the tower. It's a bit down my priorities, unless I can find someone who'd be interested in funding the project. :(

That is pretty cool... I saw a picture of some neat looking steam-punk watches, but without more similar attire to match it, I'd feel rather odd with such a watch...

That would be possible too. I'd love to see that.

I bet you'd need 20 intelligence, 100 in electricity and 100 tech amplitude to make that heheh.
Lovely Idea. I've always been a fan of the steam punk style, from the styles of Arcanum to Final fantasy VII.

I'm pretty sure you'd look like a buffoon if you wore any amount of steampunk attire. This is the 21st century after all.

Well, I was working on plans for a steam-powered truck recently (more for fuel economy/efficiency then steampunk interests, to be honest)... perhaps I could go for the full-meal deal, and start dressing in victorian-style attire?

Unless you're talking steampunk underwear. I can state with some confidence that there is at least one member of this forum who would look good in a corset.

A corset alone isn't steampunk, but thanks for the compliment.

I was rather curious as to how he laid hands upon that picture of me... I knew that little Japanese girl wouldn't keep it secret.*

*this is, infact, a reference to an actual event, as odd as it sounds.

I can guarantee that, whenever you've gone without saving for the past two hours and have just reached the end of the game, steam pressure will fall and switch off your rig.
