Who needs an argument?

Oh my God, you are all idiots.

Firstly, there IS such a thing as free energy - it is beamed to us from the sun every day, and has been sustaining life on the planet for billions of years. It is free in every sense of the word.

Secondly, developed societies all across the world are experiencing a decline in population. It happens naturally when you educate women enough that they realise they have other options besides getting pregnant from the first guy who shows any interest in them. All we need to do to halt the rise in population is to educate the population we currently have.

And yes, I know that's a tall order, but it doesn't change the fact that a) The more successful we get, the more we will naturally limit our own growth, and b) You are all reactionary idiots.

The problem isn't that energy is scarce, Smuel, it's that humans are mostly reactionary idiots.

Developed nations do plateau in their populations but the stupid people therefore breed faster than the educated.

As Darwin wrote, if voluntary contraception is the only limit to our species' growth, then Homo philoprogenitas will quickly take over.

 

Yeah, you're right, we SHOULD colonise space. Okay... Who wants Mars?
