Turkish Star Trek Part I

 

That's one of the movies in the series "Turist Ömer", or "Ömer the Tourist". That particular episode is Star Trek like. It also has episodes like "...in Arabia", "...in America" etc. The exact name would be "Tourist Ömer on Star Trek".

Meaning, it's Turkish Star Trek as much as Family Guy Star Wars is an actual remake =o

 

Incidentally, it's possible to make a good film that isn't loaded with special effects/a rip off of something else. You know. Like that thing we used to do in the 30s.

The stage combat is terrible, though. Are you telling me they didn't have any Theatre tradition in Turkey at all?

 

The first theatres in Turkey came about to be in 1830-50's. And even then, theatres never became that popular.

Actually, let me fix that. We do have a standup comedy tradition that dates back thousands of years though. And a type of cabaret has been present for all that time as well. However, all acting was about comedy - unlike Western theatre where everything started as tragedia.

I had hoped that would relate to our discussion on Turkish Cinema.

 

Ah, but you see, I don't give a damn about Turkish Cinema. I do, on the other hand, give a damn about Space Invaders.

 

Which is a shame, because a closer inspection at classic Turkish Cinema will entertain you much mjore than Space Invaders could ever dream of doing.

WTF is a "Hamster" or a "Donna Juanita"?

Papa_Dog: A hamster is a small, furry rodent indigenous to the Middle East and Russia which is a popular pet. I have one myself, her name is Schnuffle.

Urban Dictionary describes it as several things, such as 'the opposite of a cougar', 'a female who is bad at oral sex', 'blacks', 'lower class people', 'a girl with an extremely narrow vaginal passage', and 'a girl with a flat chest'. I don't really understand, because none of these terms really connect to hamsters in any way (they aren't black, they hate other hamsters, their vaginal passages are capable of giving both to a dozen hamster babies at once), but he could be referring to any of these, and any of them make the guy an asshole. Especially cause I doubt it is the first one.

Actually, it might be, because a Donna Juanita is a female Don Juan. So basically, he means 'no sluts'.

But why am I telling you this? It's your generation.
