Hello, I have just downloaded the module, 'White Sands'. In the install instructions the following is written: "Unzip the file "gameback.mes" into the /Arcanum/data/mes folder. " However, gameback.mes is not amongst the files I downloaded. Does anyone know anything about this?
I just unpacked my copy for a look, and I don't have the gameback either. Looks like he forgot to include one. Edit: I just unpacked the DAT and found it. It's in the Rules folder - which is wrong - and it's the stock Arcanum gameback. I even checked the effect.mes just to be sure and couldn't spot any differences. So, no need to worry about it.
Ok. I created the relevent folders (mes, rules, portrait) and put the .mes files in them, but is it necessary ie is the .dat fle all that is required? (The reason I ask is that when I load the game the map looks very strange)
Yep, follow the directions. The entire module is not in the usual style. And the map is a custom-made one. I spent a couple hours refreshing my memory yesterday. Not playing, but looking around.
Here is the map I see in game. Is this normal? And do I need to worry about the gameback.mes file, if as you say it is contained withen the whitesands.dat file?
Thanks for your time and replies. I hadn't quite understood what you wrote about the gameback file, but I've now figured it out.
