Just out of curiosity, how are/did people play Arcanum? Did you go through the whole game turn-based, real-time or did you switch between the two? Personally, I played the entire thing real-time (which is kind of odd for me, considering I'm one of those old Fallout players who LOVED the turn-based style of play).

NOTE: I'm not interested in starting a flame war over which way is better. I just want to know which way you PLAYED, I couldn't care less why one is worse/better than the other.

    TB.

The only thing that sucked about it IMO was that the "automatic combat engager" didn`t kick in before your foes litterarily were steppin' on your toes.

All the hard fights in my case were played out in turned based. The rest in realtime. All those random encounters with one wolf or kite who was running away made the game boring if not in realtime.

Switched between both depending on the character I played, the people in my party and the enemies we were fighting.

I prefer real-time. Switched to real-time when the enemy was heavely outnumbered an out-levelled though.

Hey, wait a second! Didn't the manual brag about that you wouldn't have to fight such battles?

I started out in turn-based, but ended up playing real-time for almost every fight. In the later half of the game, the battles are so easy that playing them turn-based just takes longer.

Arcanum is also slow and lazy at times which is extra annoying in real-time battles. Diablo II is much better for action anyway.

I played real time. Turn based was boring. Why waste time when you can already kill them without getting killed yourself.

Hey Maniac, I think what he was pointing out was, Not that he didn't like your opinion, but..

    "Real-time is more realistic"

Well, duh. It's called real-time because its realistic. So what you said was just kinda redundant. Almost like saying "That salt is really salty!"

    Now do you understand?

No, Geek. Real-time means that time in the game is continous. Realism has very little to do with it. Compare Age of Empires with Civilization for instance.

The only time i used turn-based was when I had first bought the game. Real time gives the game a certain feel that turn-based doesn't.

Feel free to expand upon that, flame away. I never ban for flaming. Spamming the forum with a bunch of pointless posts, sure.

Saying real time is more realistic is about as stupid as it gets though, since it's a much more simple model.

By all means, try to correct me on this.
