where is the "ring of Brodar"?

well, by reading other posts, it appears i need to go to Thantos - if this is correct perhaps add - go to Thantos - before the search the ring??

You do not need to go to Thanatos before you get the book and sword. All you need to know is the password "truth" and where the cave is "follow the shore to the left of the ring of Brodgar" and when you get the book and sword from the cave return to the priest in the temple.
