I am specifically thinking of the telsa gun, flamethrower, blade launcher, and elephant gun. I know telsa gun can be made, but is there a telsa rod lying around somewhere? If not, is it worth it to get all the electrical disciplines just for the one gun? Where can I get/make the others?

No tesla rod lying about anywhere. If you really want it you'll have to learn electrical, and whether it's worth it is really a matter of opinion.

You can get one elephant gun from Franklin Payne and another from the poachers. It's a component for the blade launcher.

Flame Thrower requires Repeater Rifle and Fire Obstruction.

I prefer simpler firearms, but that's just me.

OK, in your opinion, what electrical disciplines are good(if any)?

 I'm not sure what you mean. There's only one electical discipline, and if you're playing a hardcore techie it's definitely worth learning at least two levels for the charged rings. Sure you could wait for Sebastian, but that's quite a wait.

Well, I meant which of the degrees in the electrical discipline were good. Thanks for the info. Also, is the Telsa Gun one of the best weapons in the game like I have heard?

Well, yeah, it is pretty snazzy, and a lot of people like it. But it's not like you couldn't finish the game without it. There are plenty of other guns out there that require much less effort and investment to come by. If you're trying to make an ultra-techie power character of doom though, Tesla Gun is definitely the way to go. :)

Well, if you can wait till near the end of the game, you can pick up a schematic called Droch's Warbringer, which is a pistol, has a good range, fast firing speed, low MSR, high damage and 10 ED. As a really special bonus, it only uses one bullet per shot.

One of my hardcore tech characters used the flamethrower, and that was lots of fun. Don't waste time on things like the High Velocity pistol, Charged Accelerator gun and the like. Apart from the flamethrower, anything based on the repeater rifle (at some stage in construction) is probably going to suck.

Some of the guns that you can buy schematics for can be found in the game, but usually only once, and it's usually a crappy gun (like the High Velocity pistol, which you can find in Ashbury I think - either the store owner carries one, or he sells it from time to time). At any rate, if you want the best guns, you'll have to build them yourself.

I think you'd be more correct to say that if you want to try a lot of the good guns, you'll have to build them. You can steal or find plenty of good guns in the game. Hand Cannon, Looking Glass Rifle, Elephant Gun, and several unique guns like the Sharpshooter's Pistol are all excellent. By no means is it necessary to learn gunsmithy, it simply makes getting the best guns easier and lets you get more of them.

Hey people, what about the Mechanized gun? It sure consumes a hell of a lot of ammo, and its based on the repeater rifle, but it IS one of the absolute best weapons in the game! Besides, you dont even have to build it, you can STEAL it or ask Maxim to build it.
Tesla is nice, but you run out of charges pretty fast when you use it. Charges are a bit more difficult to obtain than bullets, so I usually prefer the blade launcher over Tesla.
Tips for where to steal or good guns instead of making them:
    Sharpshooter's pistol- Tarant, gunsmith
Hand cannon- Tarant, insolent halfling in the park (Sammy White, the pick pocket master). Also you get one from Pollok if you take a quest to kill Maug.
Looking glass rifle- Ashbury, firearms master
Mechanized gun- Tarant, one of the guards outside the factory during the orc riot quest. There is also a high velocity pistol there, but it sucks
Elephant gun- Franklyn Payne the follower, also poachers during the Bedokaan quest (to free the Elven hunter from Quintarra)
Long Range Pistol- Caladon, the negotiations quest (one of the people inside the palace who only appear when you've already got the final instructions from Willoughsby and are about to finish the quest. He disappears right after).
ANother tip: though the blade launcher is a gun, its schematics are being sold by the blacksmith, not gunsmith.

I have a little advice for titan. The Teslagun is good, but be warned. It is quite usless against creatures with high ED resitance. There arent too many creatures like this, but it can get pretty nasty when you run into the few that are immune. Personnally I prefer an elephant gun, it has good damage on most creatures, and doesnt speed through the ammo, I have never actually tried the flame thrower. I have heard that Bronwic's Gun is good to. Also, if you want to carry all the ammo, the mechanized gun is pretty decent to.

Edit: Oh, and the Charged Accelerator gun is quite good in my opinion, and is not too hard to make. As for good electrical degrees, the charged rings are a must, however the healing jacket is very useful. Also, I usually find that it is beneficial to get up to expert status in throwing (you can do this easily if you wear two charged rings) grenades are great to use on heavily armored enemies.

Grenades are excellent secondary weapon, especially Molotov (good fire damage, easy to make in HUGE numbers, light) and Stun grenades. Throwing is good to have for grenades, but I normally only use them at a VERY close range, so I don't invest into throwing at all.

In my opinion, the Fine Revolver is the best weapon of all :D ...

All in all, it's a great matter of taste... But i hate the idea of going right for the most powerful things around, rather than develope a special kind of style for your character, like a sniper-elf, or a sword-wielding half-orc...

After all, even when you're a total weakling, Magnus and Virgil will be sufficient to take down most of the things you encounter...

Thanks everyone. I will look into molotov coctails.

Also, is there anyone in the game who is really good at picking locks who is a good-aligned character, or should I spend CP's on it?

Sebastian picks locks IIRC, and he's slightly on the good side.

Usually I just use my trusty Hand Cannon for those things.

You are correct on both points. He also has prowling maxed and knows the first 4 degrees of the Explosives and Electrical schools.

Last question: I want to make a gogled helm for my main character. Is there one I can find, or will I have to make it myself?

Make it yourself... it's MUCH more satisfying :D ... And i haven't seen any of those lying around... though there might be one in one of the dwarf mines you visit...

There aren't any Goggled helmets in the game, or any Helmets of vision as well, so the only way for you to get a Goggled helmet is investing 5 CP into Smithy to learn the Helmet of vision schematics and then buying the Goggled helmet ones. Personally, I don't bother. Eye gear gives 2 PE, Trapmaker's spectacles add 2PE AND 2 DX. Investing 5 CP for additional 1PE from the Goggled helmet isn't worth it.
The best tech helmets you can find in the game are Miner's helmet (15AC+light and no PE penalty) from the dwarf who had lost a toy train in the Dredge and Chapeau of Megnetic inversion from the woman whose son died near the portal.

What the heck are trapmaker's spectacles? Where can I get them? I have never heard of them before.

They're a late game item that you get from doing a master quest. I forget whether it's Spot Traps or Disarm Traps.
