If you don't know the Sorcerous Beast then you probly have never gotten to Baneful Gauntlets. If you haven't got the Baneful Gauntlets , then ,well , you've missed out on a rather fun part of the game.
Geeahh! (that's my made up word, (Gee Ahh)

Sleek, you REALLY need to change your sig, im sorry but that is enough to make a man loose his lunch.

Anyways, its a good idea to build up a little collection of things, a pair of Kathoryian crystals for starters. Just store them some place in a town. An inn dresser or a barrel. I prefer to use the safe under the Hall of Records.

You only really need one of the things, but they have excellent resale value at junk merchants  . You'll find the best way to carry things is to have lots of friends to help you lump them around, especially if you are something like a halfling. I don't really like leaving stuff lying about. It's too tempting, and then there are the bloody kleptomaniac NPCs...... (Virgil! put the lava rock DOWN, and LEAVE it there!)

Oh, and if you see a shovel for sale, BUY IT AND DON'T LET IT GO!

I just spent a better part of an hour tramping all the way from Ashbury to Caladon (via Black Root) to the Bangallan deeps, back to Ashbury again (via Tarant) just looking for the damned shovel! AAAAAAHHHHHH!

I finally got my shovel... nice shovel... preciousssss shovelll.

There's a shovel that is quite easy to obtain in Caladon. It even has a unique name.

I haven't tried him, but judging from other magic using critters, yes. Even most of the magic using spiders require DW. The Patriarch Wolf is an animal, you cannot target him with DW but you can target him with Control Beast. In any event, he has WP 20, & is unavailable.

Not once you use Reflection Shield to permanentize it. Turn your volume down though, those "plink plink, whoop whoop, etc. etc., sounds will drive you nuts.

Damn, and here I was dreaming of a party including the Temporal Crusher, the Ancient Bear, a Patriarch wolf and other sorcerous beasts.
Are Ore Golems, Seething Masses and Fire Elementals controllable?

That would rule , a Temporal Crusher for a follower. On worldEd I edited a weapon that you can summon Were Rats , Wargunns , Seethers , Balefull Hounds Just like it is for the Stillwater Blade.

Yep, but I already had a shovel back then, so after he went all molochean on my arse, he tripped and fell... onto a bladed boomerang..... multiple times... and I left the thing on him.

Then (silly me I forgot) later a certain individual who calls me 'matey' a lot required me to do a couple of quests, the first and easiest one involving digging. By this time all shovels had been sold, so I had to tramp all over the bloody continent looking for a garden utensil.

But now I have a shovel, and it's mine, MINE I tell you! Ahahaha!

you know, i always thought the whole mage thing in arcanum would be a similar experience to playing a mage in any game, but now that i've heard about all these mind control tricks i'm kind of interested... could you pull this shit off on king praetor? think of the possibilities troika never considered! you'd think shit like this would be getting mages everywhere in the game lynched on site because no one wants to become their mind slaves... kinda makes all those necromancers look pretty stupid huh? summoning the dead when they could be controlling the living...

any suggestions as to the best way to pull the whole mind mage thing off? who to dominate etc? if you had 20 charisma you could have quite a few npcs too! i think i heard phoenix say he once had 14 npcs following him willingly because he had 20 ch and all the freebies. plus as many dominated persons as possible? how many could you have!? :-o
