More things wrong with my shit. My printer isn't printing out things with black ink. As in, if I try to print something out in word that has black text, it prints out blank pages. If I print out something that has different colors and black, it prints out everything but the black part. The black ink cartridge is new, so what's the deal? The printer is a Canon S600, if that's at all relevant.

i've had stale ink cartridges before that wouldn't print. I don't want to ask the obvious questions but shake the cartridge and hear ink sloshing, Contacts for the cartridge are clean? and snapped in solid?

If none of the above fix it...............broken printer. It thinks theres a cartridge in it so it thinks its printing. I aam more inclined to the cartridge problem.

Yeah, I think I DO see a pattern...

Snow saw the pic, downloaded it, then made you look like an idiot on it and now she wants to print it and show all her friends so they can laugh and use it to scare away rats and to throw darts at. ;)

I don't have a printer, either, but I don't really need one, anyway.

My CanonBJC2001 gave me something like that before.

It turns out it wasn't the ink cartridge itself, but that little thingie that holds the cartridges. It refused to print black ink in any way shape or form.

Anyway your best bet is to get a new cartridge holder, that should do the trick. Or at least it did for me.

Yeah, Snow, check all the obvious stuff. I had a computer that refused to boot up, simply because the power connector on the floppy drive - which I was convinced had been put in correctly - wasn't in place. So, check the obvious stuff.

If all of that is okay, you might have a toner problem, depending on the printer. Otherwise, maybe the printer nozzles are clogged. If worse comes to worse, get it repaired, but it'll cost you a fair bit I think.

and with printers now a days, it costs more for the cartridges than the printer itself!

It could be worse. With my old computer, it was basically fried. The cd-drive didn't even work. And I could only get into windows in safe mode.

But you youngsters don't remember the TRS-80 from radio shack 1000 bucks for a 16K memory machine, not megs or gigs but K (1000 bytes) and a slow ass tape drive.

Then the VIC-20 and commodore 64 was a dream!

    Nostalgia and being old hehehehehe

Yeah, a kilobyte is technically 1024 - it's marketing and telecommunication types who knock it back to 1000 bytes, which of course creates all sorts of problems.

Yes, I removed the plastic bit! (I know I'm stupid, but sheesh, you all must think me completely dim.) Alright, I'm currently looking at the little nozzles, but I'm not sure what to look for in terms of clogging material.

with the 1024 i didn't want to get to tech with all these mages out here!

and the old binary stuff of '0's and 1's!!!!!! and hexadecimal FFFF kind of stuff either.

Back to the printer snowmane does your printer have replacable nozzels? I know the hps just replace both in one package. Not familiar with the canons. You may need a PRINTHEAD and CARTRIDGE, your cartridge may be good and printhead bad!

Thank you parmanian, for some total gibberish.

    Snow:
Make sure cartridge is good: press it down on a sheet of paper and if it doesn't leave any ink, then it is probably just a bad cartridge.

    If it does leave ink:
Clean out the area where the cartridge goes, in case there is some blob stuck there.
Try putting your cartridge in differently, sometimes they just act funny.

However, the best idea is just to go Office Space on your printer.

Lol, Snowmane as far as I know no one thinks your stupid. Like I and I think some others said, we're coverin all the bases. I know with me it always seems to be the obvious stuff I miss :)

Last time it heard that, it was 'me and I'.

Snow, I won't take that dim comment to heart, cuz it kinda filters back to me, cuz I've done it myself. :/

Hope it gets to working for ya.
