Alright, so I'm playing Car Arcanum with a non-Juggernaut character (one who can actually learn Ressurection), and some of my party dies while fighting a large group of Dread Spiders who can spawn more spiders called Moorindal Spiders. Anyway, I lose a dog,Spot, and I lose Virgil. Then, after the fight is over, Helena turns to me and says "I've had it with all of this religious claptrap! You can die on your own!" And she leaves my party, at which point I resurrect Virgil and Spot. It's not that i really NEED Helena, but what the hell? Does she normally bitch out when a fight is too rough?
Given that Virgil got killed, are you sure it was Helena that left you and not Althea? Althea is the one who always said the line about religious clap-trap. She will leave you, even in battle, if Virgil dies before T'sen-Ang. Otherwise, she is a very good character. Resurrect Virgil and, as a rule, she will rejoin. Helena is usually a pretty solid character, but I did notice that if you have low charisma and a habit of seeking out near-death situations, she does become tempermental. As a rule though, she just goes into hate mode and spouts lines like: "You half-elves are all crackers!" And on a different subject, here's a bit of help for later in the game: http://terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=12654
Ah yeah! It WAS Althea. I also have Helena Sent in my party. Yeah, she was ok. Yeah, I resurrected Virgil and Althea will not come back to my party. She just says "You can die on your own!" every time I talk to her. It sucks, because she's a great fighter!
Charisma is 13. I solved the problem, however. All I had to do was save and reload a few times. That seems to be a quick fix for everything! Thanks, rroyo.
Ha! It's not necessarily that you helped (though you did give me some insight to the characters), it's that you tried to help.
Given that you usually play tech characters in car arcanum what value have you seen for keeping virgil around when his heals start always failing on your tech characters so early on? Do you basically just keep him to keep Althea around a bit longer and then replace them both once you're high enough level to start leveling up other npcs in their place?
Nah... More out of habit than anything else. He's there, he's leveled up to me, and as a rule, loyal to the end. Plus - After his level gets high enough, he's not a bad fighter. Give him a decent shield and one of the Clan Maug Poisoned Falchons and let him do his thing.
