I am bored at work. I am so bored, I can write little more than short sentences. What do people do at work when they are bored? I am just crusing all the forums I know of. It is boring. I could be at home working on my mod. I could be playing Civ3 with my new Fallout mod pack added. Civ3 Fallout Mod Pack

I am a public servant. So I get to bludge like the rest of the public service. What do other people do when they are bored at work?

We complain about all the taxes we have to pay to support the public service employees.

How do you think I am able to put up this many posts in 2 days? They give me a laptop and a lightning fast internet connection and they expect me not to screw around?

Basically we just stand around and talk and BS.

Or, if its after closing and there are no customers, we get brooms and a can of tuna, and play some hockey.. or get the motorized carts that we got for the handicapped customers and race em around the store.
At least while the manager isn't looking, that is.

I visit game sites. Mostly T-A forums. Now I also download freeware games and play when no one will notice.

Even when someone do notice, I can say "I'm stress-testing this machine!" or "I must relax a little bit before I can program correctly and efficiently again."

It's good to be a programmer.

Work is where you drink a lot of coffee. Chilling out is another common activity.

I lay my head down on my desk and sleep. When someone catches me, I say, "Amen. Hey, can't a guy even pray around here? What is this, Russia?! I'm calling the ACLU".

As I don't work, I don't do anything there... But at school when I am bored... ah you can't do anything in school except sleeping or drawing shit... or writing occasionally. In the comp class I usually go to Yahoo and play chess... I'm getting better. Chess is the best!..

Also another thing I like to do when I'm bored is get suspended or kicked out of class/school and than slease my way out of it somehow... though sometimes it doesn't work and well... I am forced to change school... But then I don't and people let it go. :p

And I think the question is wrong... It should be: What do you do at work whenever you have the possibility not to do your job.

I am currently at work, it is 3:35 A.M., and I am bored shitless. I have to sit here and baby-sit 50 year-old men because our plant is broke and I have to make sure that they don't do exactly what I am doing now. I guess that makes me a hypocrite.

BTW, did I mention that I am getting paid double time with a shift differential?

    What I do is this:
    • Divide each hour into four 15 minute segments. Each segment is spent doing one of four things.
      1. Segment 1, 15 minutes:
        • Stare blankly at the wall while practicing "Time Controlâ„¢". "Time Controlâ„¢" is a process by which you can slow time down by focusing boredom. This at first will seem counterintuitive, since your natural instinct will be to make time pass by faster. Avoid this urge. The longer time seems, the longer you seem to live. Therefore, the time you spend doing this will offset the the next 45 minutes you spend wasting your life away. Make an effort to keep your mouth closed during this time to prevent the accumulation of drool on your shirt.
      2. Segment 2, 15 minutes:
        • Use the bathroom. Divide the daily paper into sections. Sports page, front page, local news, world news, etc. Each one of these sections is good for about 15 minutes of reading time while on the toilet. If properly divided, then one paper should last an entire shift.
      3. Segment 3, 15 minutes:
        • Listen to talk radio. Often, you'll hear extreme left or right wing opinions on the articles that you just read while sitting on the toilet. 15 minutes should be all that you can handle before you slam the "off" button in disgust.
      4. Segment 4, 15 minutes:
        • Go outside for a smoke. Note, this works whether you are actually a smoker or not. Spend this time in quiet contemplation of the world and your place in it. Get to know the real you. Do some soul searching. Throw rocks at things. Kick a piece of garbage from your left foot to your right foot. Keep score, as sometime during the next hour, you will be trying to better this, your previous effort.

Hmmm... Why would you want to slow time down... I usually just sit... it passes pretty fast if I got something interesting to think about... or usually some Americans around me to laugh at. Sometimes I laugh out loud, but mostly just grin and don't show it to anyone. Also if you want to live longer - you need to move faster.

Ever read Catch-22? Wait... I'm sure you have. You're a dork, but you're well read. :p

Remember Dunbar and his strategy of living forever?

No I've never heard of Catch-22... and if I have it was in another language and named differently... It's strange that I give an impression of well-read... I just got good memory for alot of stuff that sometimes may come in handy in stupid situations... I do like reading though... Just sometimes it's hard to get away from comp... Besides when I start reading in school I don't listen to anyone. :p

Egads! Another soul from Adelaide? Hey, interested in buying a building in the CBD? There are about 5 of 'em all for sale (Probably going cheap too, as most other buildings have sings on them proclaiming 'areas to rent small areas to entire floors')... Good ol' Adelaide, nice 'n quiet....

Umm.... I'm bored a work again
