Posted this in a thread about NPC's in the general discution. But some people got a bit peeved so I guess I'll put it here.

Its been a while since I played Arcanum. Probably a little bit over a year. I'd like to start again and this time get all the dwarf NPCs to create a party of unstoppable dwarven whoop ass. The thing is, Altho I've finished the game several times I was unable to get hold of some of the dwarven NPC's during my first romps.
So, If someone could please tell me what kind of character I need to get them all I'd be most greatful.

(Longhaire and the guy on the Isle of Dispair have given me the biggest trouble. I've never managed to get them to join me even tho I've had high charisma and persuation stats.)

What, Thorvald? Just leave him outside the first time you enter the Wheel Clan and he'll stay forever, having missed the trigger from the guards to leave you.

I haven't personally bothered keeping him for the whole game though. It just seems cruel, and he's too quiet anyway. I suppose it's possible that he eventually gets sick of you and goes home by himself, but I have it on good authority that the stays. Plus he's free, good for egomaniacs who can't even shit without an entourage.

To get Jormund you need to be good.
To get Thorvald you need to be good not a gnome and 3 ranks in presuasion and expert status.
To get Loghaire you need to be good have 12 intelligence and expert persuasion then talk to his son about the shape and the stone then bring it up while talking to Loghaire get him out of exile.

You need to get the dialogue for Shape and Stone in your first conversation with Loghaire's son, after that, you can't get it.

Jormund will join an evil PC, but I don't know his limit for evil. As Jormund is level 20, if you want everyone to be about the same level, you will need to force Qintarra. Otherwise, don't worry.

Thorvald is level 23, & will not join you at level 21 or less. 3 persuasion needed. A Gnome cannot get him. Trigger phrase, "are you a Dwarf or a Gnome." As reported, leave him outside, talk to the guards, go back for him, he is yours forever.

You need IN 12 to get Ravender to talk about shape & stone, but it has been reported that 10 will do. You can use a potion of IN, but talk fast. The persuasion is so he will let you in the back way. But you will have 3 points to get Thorvald first.

Or you could be a Dwarf Mage & take Mental & Meta. :D Run a search on Meta abuse or Vorpal Sheep.

I see the Taco Snake is still pushing his post count despite having NOTHING to contribute to the thread.

I've gotten hold of Magnus and Torvald right now. And I have all the stats needed to get Loghaire. However, Instead of joining me after convincing him to return from his exile, he desides that he wants to be king again and gives me his axe.

Am I right in assuming that this is only temporary and that he will join me ones I find out more about the BMC dwarves? or is there something else?

He joins after you visit T'sen-Ang. He is level 35 IIRC, so be 34 or better.

If you haven't already done so, run off and get Jormund to join you. He is only level 20 and will be several levels behind you and the rest of your party if you wait until you get to Qintarra in the normal plot. Either hold back on quests and combat until you get there or force its location. That's only if you're absolutely insistent that all your followers be the same level, if you don't really care then you can just wait.

I don't have to justify myself to you, Shadygrove, but I will. I AM contributing to this thread by fleshing out Flink's personality a bit. When I first looked at this thread I thought it odd that he had chosen to try to make a party entirely of dwarves. Perhaps, I thought, Flink is either a tall or short person in real life and this has translated itself into game terms by the fact that he wants to make a party who are all the same height, or perhaps with himself as the tallest. Now that he has said that he is a tall person in real life, I'm wont to believe that he has chosen a dwarf or maybe a halfling as his PC.

Demosthenes, you double-post more than anyone I know.

I assure you that it's not on purpose. I just noticed that that had happened and would have deleted it if not for the fact that you posted, thereby blocking the delete option. My deepest apologies Chalupa Chode, O' Taco of Serpents.

My reason for going thru the game with an all dwarf party has very little to do with my real life height. I like to role-play and I've finished the game with many different types of characters before.

My real reason is actually that I had only just scratched the surface on the back stories of all of the dwarven NPCs during my previous times throu the game. This time I wanted to see and hear it all.

Dwarves are very chill and it's perfectly understandable to want an all dwarf party. That's the first character I mean to play after I get my computer fixed and running again.
