What are the exact benefits of training?

I'm embarrassed to ask this, but I don't have my manual, and it's been so long since I played that I have forgotten what the exact benefits are from training your character. Except repair: 5% repair loss at apprentice 1% loss for expert, no loss at master and can repair broken items. Can't remember anything else. Been finding plenty of guides saying where to get training, none specifying the benefits. I suppose I'm a goober for not being able to find it, but help would be appreciated.

The manual is all over the internet, including this very website. Do yourself a favor and at least glance through it.

 

As far as manuals go, it has pretty good atmosphere and flavor to boot.
