I live in New England. We almost got over our severe ice storm which left about 70% of my state (MA) out of power just to be hit by a snow storm Friday and it hasn't let up since. We're up to 2 feet of snow right now and it's still falling. The kids are loving it though. They've been out of school since Dec. 11 and aren't going back until Jan. 5.

You close down society because of a mere two feet of snow?

I wish we closed down society, then I wouldn't need to go to work tonight. No, we just closed down the schools because they are all being used as shelters for all the towns still without any power from the ice storm 10 days ago. The 2 feet of snow fall just doesn't help the situation any.

    Ft. Lewis?

We'll close it for around 2-3inches of snow around here, but it's the fact that we get LOTS of ice with our snow, and even with the sand alt. that they lay down, the roads here are always icy.

Ice is a big problem around here, too. We got six inches of snow on top of ice, then it stared raining again on the snow and a new layer of ice formed. Hell is chopping a half an inch of ice from your car's windows.

Yea, the ice is what makes life hellish around here... I love having to go out and just jerk on your car door until the damn thing opens.

Our Summer here in Aus well hasn't really been summer. It is the first one I know of that has had more rain and horrible days than clear sunny ones. Finally a cold Christmas hopefully.

    Yes.
Followed by much hilarity as your weather stripping tears loose and flops to the ground like a severed lizard tail.

Fortunately, temperatures are going down and we've received enough snow to make things look Christmas-cardey again.

Might even post some pictures of it.

I couldn't imagine a christmas day without heat and the burning sun unfortunately. I suppose the snow works in a positive way though. Too much of a downfall means annoying relatives cannot make it and pig out on your mead or deer.

Unfortunately, snow removal is generally too damn efficient around here for that to happen.

Anyway, I actually went out on a photo expedition today and took some pictures of all that snow-covered goodness. However, while I remembered to bring the camera to my dad's I forgot the USB cable in my apartment, so I can't upload anything for at least a few days.

My door seals haven't done that yet... and three of my doors leak when it rains anyway. I'm just waiting for the snow to go down enough that businesses open, and I can take it to a shop to get that fixed.

Your kinda out in the sticks, right? Do like the rest of the country folks for automotive repair. Bailing wire and duct tape.
And for your car door leaks, a good caulking compound.

I'mn't THAT far out in the sticks. I drive a Volvo. I've an extrodinarily safe car with heated leather seats. This isn't like a 1972 Ford Pickup that has been beat to shit.

An 850 with leather seats eh? That's classy, I'll give you that.

Also, given the lack of visible rust it seems that previous owners have taken good care of it, or they don't put a metric tonne of salt on every square inch of the road during the winter like they do on major roads around here.

Vulva, a Latin word meaning "to roll".
