Hello again everybody, So I've been in lurk mode for a couple months with my new little baby girl. Recently, I noticed a request for a weapon editing program, and thought that the community might be better served by a proto editing tutorial. Going off of the old idea that if you teach somebody how to edit proto files that they might discover even more stuff. So, I've started working on said tutorial, when I have a moment free from crying, and thought I'd post what I have so far. The layout for what I intend to do is there, but it's just got the first piece, which explains how to edit the damage that a weapon does. I'd appreciate some feedback about what's done so far, if there are any questions, or things that can be clarified. This is more or less a rough draft, but the way I work, that means that excepting problems and input, I won't be going back over it. Anyways, I hope people find this helpful, and I look forward to seeing what people can do, with a little bit of education on a specific type of proto file. weapon proto tutorial it's in html format as output by open office.
Ah, I hadn't taken that into account, I'll make a zip file with the pics and stuff...I'll update when that's been done. UPDATE: should be fixed, just unzip it all first, thanks for the catch rroyo.
OK! Came through beautifully. The tutorial seems to nicely thought out and done in a way for your avarage person to be able to read and understand. Nice work, theorel. One last suggestion: Reset the picture sizes in the htm to match the jpegs. I found them to be a little difficult to read.
A question about prototypes: Some of the stuff in description mes is not in the proto folder. Example: absinthe is number 10130 in description mes, so i looked for proto # 10150, but it isn't there. the numbers go from 10149 -> 10151 and skip it completely. same thing with wine, 010113 is skipped completely. anyone know why?
if you have UAP this would probably be why they aren't there. They're in Arcanum6.dat. I think Drog changed them from being slightly tech aligned or something, I forget exactly what.
