Strange. I may be mistaken (and I don't have a possibility to check it right at the moment, since I'm currently not on my computer), but I think I recall having the satisfaction of casting disarm on a opponent, taking his weapon from under his feet and beating the shit out of him with it. If I won't forget, I'll try this tomorrow or the day after, unless someones checks it earlier.

Went through my CD's, got the free Arcanum LEVEL magazine gave us, installed it, 1.0.7.4. patch and the UAP, and tested.

You can drag items out of combat just fine, but in both real time combat and turn based combat, you cannot drag/pick the item if the enemy is standing on it.

Maybe your adversary's weapon was something like a staff/longsword, which might (theorhetically) be a fe tiles long. Or you misremember.

I most propably disremembered or it was different in an earlier version. I believe items always take one tile, no matter how big they seem to be.
Happily there is always unseen force, plus you can just move away and watch the enemy run towards you, leaving the weapon under his feet by. I'm still suprised how in Fallout people were smart enough to take weapons from the ground during combat, while in Arcanum that somewhat is too much for their brainpower.

Adding magic to a "stupid, rock throwing, raging ogre/Hulk" really ruins the immersion. Not to mention you'd need 4 intelligence to get the dumb conversations (or Idiot Savant, which reduces ST and DX, gah!) and 5 intelligence to get any spell. I don't want my rock throwing raging Hulk to say "Hello, good sir!". =(

That sucks. I guess all that can be done is throwing it, running away so the enemy will not stand on it anymore, return, pick up, throw again, etc. Propably better than carying more than one rock and not be able to run, though. There are also other pushing away techniques (f.e. explosives), but that's unrealistic and fun spoiling as well, not to mention the intelligence requirements.

Too bad we don't have a "Prod" skill like Worms. That skill was annoying and surprisingly useful against opponents facing slopes.

I mean, the ogre has like 24 Strength, and he can't push a Kite Scout, let alone an average human being.

Maybe the kite was super duper strong but with really low health and stuff

For the stone throwing you don't really need to be a half ogre for the lightest stone (4000) as long as it is all that you are carrying you can pick it up with 8 strength, to run with the stone you need 14 strength and then you should need a couple of extra strength points for your equipment

But the whole point of a character like that would be playing something like this

It isn't fun if you don't have a huge idiot smashing things and screaming around. =(

I think seeing an unassuming halfing just suddenly pull out a massive rock and smashing you with it really funny

    Genious.

    Will try now.

**edit** Tried it. It was entertaining to kill a shopkeeper instantly by throwing a 5000 "stone" stone on her. It dealt %30-40 damage to an Ashbury Guard also.
